Stuka f Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 forgot to show you this one. Can't tell you much about it, except that it is marked Toledo and 1854. 97 cm long.
peter monahan Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 Might it be a French Model 1854 cavalry sword like the one below? https://www.christies.com/lotfinder/Lot/a-french-model-1854-heavy-cavalry-carabinier-5758653-details.aspx
Stuka f Posted March 20, 2018 Author Posted March 20, 2018 Hey Peter, no it is definitely Spanish with the coat of arms in the hilt. Wasn't able to post more pic's in my previous message, should post this one first.
peter monahan Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 Definitely the Spanish coat of arms - Leon & Castile. I did a quick search for Spanish 'Model 1854's and didn't find one, but I'd still be inclined to think the date is a model ID and not a manufacture date. OTOH, what I know about Spanish swords could be written on a postage stamp with room left over.
Stuka f Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 (edited) Thanks Peter! I did found a similar one on the net, but don't know what it is worth (speaking about the info!). Edited March 22, 2018 by Stuka f
peter monahan Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Interesting. Looks as if it could well be a match.
Bayern Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Gentlemen , If you wish take a look into :vicentetoledo. es / es /espadas sables militares.there is info about Spanish swords and sabres . the sabre discussed is there
Stuka f Posted March 27, 2018 Author Posted March 27, 2018 Interesting site. Thanks for pointing it out. Amazing number of different swords they have had. I had no idea. Wish there was a list like that about Belgian blades. Any way, here it is;
Bayern Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Hello , My pleasure , perhaps exists something similar about Belgian blades . The German manufacturer Weyerberg Kirschbaum & co that exists today was a great manufacturer of blades and probably supplied the Belgian Army , as note ,today WKC produces ceremonial blades for France and Great Britain in the last case having the patterns of Wilkinsons. PS Excuse me , do you need tanslation ?
Stuka f Posted March 28, 2018 Author Posted March 28, 2018 Thank you. And no need for translation, I am ok with Spanish.
