I think "БУТАФОРИЯ" translates to "props" i.e. reproductions.

I believed these were officially marked for display purposes as the CCCP were quite heavy on unentitled wearing of Patriotic  War medals.

The awards marked "БУТАФОРИЯ" were produced for theatres and movie production.

These are really cool.  I've never seen such marked props before.  Are they genuinely this rare?  Maybe collectables on their own.
