Medal box / help to ID if poss please Gents

Hi Gents

just spotted this amongst a job lot with some other bits.  It includes a German ‘Hindenburg’ cross for widows on a trifold ribbon.

Do they belong together please ?

The shape of the medal that fits the box looks to have curved ends to its arms...

They don't. It's a box for Austria-Hungary Merit Cross. Here's an example in the exact box: (photo taken from the internet)
