andy Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 HiCan anyone id this patch and put an age to it for me.thanks in advanceandy
Guest Rick Research Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Tilt it so the handles are both down and what you have there is an army Commissar's star, worn on the lower sleeve of each arm just above the cuffs. These were generally removed following Hitler's "Commissar Order" that these officers be executed on the spot when captured. Last worn in 1941/42.From the untrimmed uniform cloth colored backing, yours was never issued.
Riley1965 Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 I've seen these in pictures but never up close. Nice piece!!! Doc
andy Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 Many thanks for your help. I just obtained this with some TR items and its nice to know what it is. In this bad condition, would this have ay monetary value/thnaks againandy
Guest Rick Research Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Certainly, but I'm not sure what-- because these rarely ever come up for sale. There's no "retail" to go by. I would think in the neighborhood of ?20/$30.
Stogieman Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I think Rick is grossly undervaluing these. I will buy every single one you can provide, assuming authenticity, for $30.00..... bring them on!
andy Posted April 17, 2006 Author Posted April 17, 2006 Many thanks for the replies. I do intend to sell this as i do not collect cloth and dare not start. I will have a look around to see if I can find any comparisons and then post it in the for sale section here.thanks againandy
