Sal Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 (edited) Seeking help in identifying and translating this manual. I did not take pictures of every page but a sampling to determine what it is. I found this in a blown out warehouse building on Camp Taji along with lots of other handmade log books. many thanks, Anthony The most interesting are the first 2 pages Edited April 26, 2020 by Sal
Paul R Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 That is cool! I cant wait to see the results. It looks like some strong anti-Israeli sentiment in there!
peter monahan Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 I have no Arabic at all, bar 5-6 oral phrases, but the last pages you posted, with the soldier at the blackboard and the 'sample writing' on the facing pages remind me of a booklet some friends of mine had, years ago, when their dad took a job in Saudia. I wonder if this might be a basic reader, with 'high interest illustrations' and sample written words / phrase, for the instruction of soldiers who were illiterate? Or for their children? I used to teach both English and ESL and, bar the two prtraits, it has the look of a 'primer' as they used to be called, IMO.
Sal Posted April 30, 2020 Author Posted April 30, 2020 Great thought thank you I hadn’t thought of that at all. It tracks with the cartoon nature of the whole thing.
Desertwolf Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 this is not A Training Manual Iraq since the seventies launched a major effort to combat illiteracy
