NormanW Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 Has anyone come across any badges/insignia of the Gilbert & Ellis Islands Constabulary please? They were a Pacific British protectorate from 1892 and colony from 1916 until 1 January 1976 when they became independent as Tuvalu and Kiribati. There are some documents referenced in the National Library of Australia, but nothing is available online. NW
Dave Wilkinson Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Yes, I do have several badges from the Gilbert & Ellice Islands Constabulary, the Gilbert Islands Police and their successor organisations. Dave.

NW Would they have been awarded the British Police LSGC, in the same way that Australia, Papua New Guinea and Nauru, were?
Dave Wilkinson Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 No, I believe that they were awarded the Colonial Police Long Service medal. Dave.
