CRBeery Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 (edited) This looks like a Freikorp collar tab piece except most I have seen are gold and this is silver. The back has that rainbow toning and it is not magnetic. I think it is silver. It is in a grouping from Württemberg and there are no Freikorps items present. Could this just be something you could sew to your shooting cap? I checked my sources and did not find a match. Edited January 29, 2021 by CRBeery
bolewts58 Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 Not a known Freikorps insignia. It could be a police collar badge or just for a hunting association.
CRBeery Posted January 30, 2021 Author Posted January 30, 2021 Thank you sir! It has the oak leaf and acorn motif of so many Freikorps pieces but then again it’s a German thing.

Bavarian police used 2 different types. I would also suggest that it could be for forestry personnel.
OvBacon Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 I think it would be helpful to see the back. From the two holes I assume it is supposed to be sewed on something. It could easily be some sort of hunting badge as well but since oak leaves are so widely used it will be hard to narrow it down unless someone recognizes it. I've been searching for something similar and have yet to come up with something.
Eric Stahlhut Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 it surely has nice toning on the reverse. it could even be affixed to a paperweight, award plaque, walking stick, or cane. a myriad of possibilities! out of all of them i think the forestry/hunting suggestions are the most logical
