Bombarder Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 Hello I have this lot with german/american insignia and coins. And im curious about the silver coin with german text. "Dem Sieger" on one side and "Die Landeshauptstadt Wiesbaden" there is no marking or year on it. A mommemorativ coin for US forces after WW2? Or maybe it is a shootingaward or something? I think US Army was well represented in Wiesbaden. Thankful for any help here!
aubagne98 Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Hi, the German seams to be a civil sport award, usually given once a year in a big ceremony to all successful sportsmen/-women of a town for the last year/season. Rottweil: Ehrung für vielfältige sportliche Leistungen - NRWZ.de from the town I live.
Bombarder Posted February 5, 2021 Author Posted February 5, 2021 Many thanks for your help! Shame there is no dating on this one
aubagne98 Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 It would be too expensive to make every year a new sports medaille. you know the first badge?

Gordon Craig Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Bombarder, I have never heard of a list of names for these badges but it would certainly be interesting if there was one. Regards, Gordon
Bombarder Posted February 9, 2021 Author Posted February 9, 2021 Many thanks Gordon! Shame, low number on mine so i guess it was awarded early 1950-ies?
speedytop Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 (edited) Hi Bombarder, "... so i guess it was awarded early 1950-ies?" There existed different organizations with their own numbering. And these badges had been awarded for one year or for three years of excellent service. For a correct date you need the associated document. Uwe Edited April 30, 2023 by speedytop

speedytop Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 It could be from the late 50s to the early 70s. Uwe
