    Dave, I wonder if he ever got the Kriegsverdienstkreuz (1939) for his service after April 1940? Thanks! P.S. When you write "General der Infanterie beim Oberbefehlshaber Ost", was he promoted to General der Infanterie or is that a title?

    According to his personnel files he was only awarded the EK II Spange (19-09-1939) & EK I Spange (02-10-1939) during WW2.
