Deutschritter
Gentlemen, can any one provide any information about Generalleutnant August Justus Alexander Keim, especially exact promotion dates and maybe even WW I awards? Thank you! I think Oberstleutnant i. G. Fritz Keim (1873--1920) and Generalleutnant z. V. Gustav Keim (1876--1955) are his sons. Deutschritter
Great picture and info, thank you, Dave! I always thought his EK II and I were from 1870/71, but looking through the Ranglisten, I now realize, they must be from WW I. Deutschritter
Another great one, Glenn, thank you! Did the Hessen have a medal for 1866? Edited January 20, 2022 by Deutschritter

Hi Andreas, yes, the Felddienstzeichen 1840-1866 signified by the medal with the letter "L" in the extract below (3rd from the end on his medal bar). This from the 1870 edition of the Grand-Ducal Hessian court and state handbook where he is listed as a Lieutenant in the 4. Infanterie-Regiment (the later Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 118). Deutschritter
Here is what I have for GL Keim, but looking at Daves large picture, I am missing a few (maybe a Komtur or two): Hessisches Militär-Verdienstkreuz (GHMV/HMV) Felddienstzeichen 1840, 1866 Kriegsdenkmünze für die Feldzüge 1870–71 (Deutsches Reich) mit drei Gefechtsspangen Herzoglich Sachsen-Ernestinischer Hausorden, Ritterkreuz I. saschaw
On the picture Dave posted, I can recognize an Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen mit der Inschrift Für Tapferkeit from Hessen-Darmstadt as sixth from right, as well as a Hamburgisches Hanseatenkreuz in the last place. Both are rather common awards and usual for a person of his rank - and then given he was even born in the Grand Duchy of Hesse...
