Hello Hauptmann,

 

looks like a pin-on from one of those countless WW1 German veterans organizations.

e.g. Allgemeiner Bund Deutscher Krieger/Kriegsveteranen ?

Could even be Bund Deutscher Krieger/Kriegsveteranen - I am getting stuck on the A = Amerika?

They had dozens if not hundreds of these German WW1 veterans organizations in the USA, did you obtain this badge in the States?

 

I am sure someone from this site will know more about it.

Many thanks V.Perlet. Actually it's one I spotted on the web and was wondering what it was. I'd posted over on WAF as well and they nailed it down as the center EK from the 57er German Cross in Gold. I knew I'd seen it somewhere but just couldn't remember last night. I had the same thought re: vets organization but as to which one there's no telling. But at least one part of the mystery is solved.

Maybe Bund Deutscher Afrika Kämpfer, so the veterans of the Africa corps? But I have never seen this before.

Bund Deutscher Krieger, and the A could be the town?

If he customized his dkig or dkis there's a good chance that he did the same to his other badges, too

i am pretty sure it is a WW1 Veterans association related object.

 

The only object I could find was a pin on beholding the same lettering

Bund der Asienkämpfer (BDAK)

 

What someone might use or missuses such an item for would be likely another topic.
