can anybody help me with this badge? Is it original and what is it purpose? I guess is has something to do with cavalery….

Scout 1st class badge. Looks ok to me.

The swords could indicate that the scout was a member of cavalry unit

Someone perhaps know whether the 1st Class/Grade was highest or lowest one

Thanks so much for the info guys! I find it difficult to find information about the medals and badges of the Russian Empire. There is certainly a lot of information in Russian, but my Russian is non-existent.

Full original name of this badge Scout of 1st Category in the Cavalry and Cossack Troops.

It was introduced on June 11, 1891.
