bigjarofwasps Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Would be interested to learn what current campaign medals, we’re likely to see with the King Charle’s effigy on? GSM 2008, clasps Northern Africa and Eastern Africa. OSM clasp Iraq & Syria. Any others?
Megan Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Accumulated Campaign Service Medal, I suppose... The first NEW Charles III medal will hopefully be his Coronation Medal. (Hopefully as anything else suggests the UK gets sucked into someone's war.)

Coronation Medal, I guess is a given. Couldn’t agree more with regards to any subsequent campaign medals, but I fear it is just a matter of time, before the necessity for additional medal(s) comes to pass….
Zulu_00 Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I hope to GOD that if my generation has to fight a major international war that they give us something better than just an OSM for it. World War Three campaign stars!
Marcon1 Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 More likely a World War Three Cross - as in R.I.P(IECES). ☠️
bigjarofwasps Posted November 23, 2022 Author Posted November 23, 2022 Could the new nuclear test veterans medal, be a contender here, do we think?
Zulu_00 Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Doubt it mate. The Arctic Star was issued with the GVIR cypher on it. I reckon it'll be an EIIR medal, if it's not already going to be a GSM.

Both bear the effigy of the monarch at the time of issue not at the time of the campaign.
Zulu_00 Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 The Korea Medal was issued 59 or 60 years ago, can't recall if it was 1952 or 1953. The Arctic Star is a far more recent precedent.
paul wood Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 The first Korea War medal was issued in 1953 and has the first Britt Omn legend, those issued from 1954 have the second obverse type DEI GRATIA REGINA and the third type also issued in 1953 has CANADA below the bust. Paul
Cerrig-Man Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 Would the new "Nuclear Test Veterans" medal , (not sure of what it's official title), not have the King on it? I appreciate that it dates back to the early part of the Queen's reign, but where this will make a difference remains to be seen?
