Jan Arne S Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Hi Guys !Here is two EK 1 maker marked L/12 Juncker , Berlin . Jan Arne
DavidM Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Hello JanVery nice crosses Is the pin on the second cross brass ?
Marcus H Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Hi Jan Arne,Are you certain that the second cross is a Juncker ? Does anyone know the pros and cons with whats what in the L/12 EK1 and EK2 for that matter ? Differences in cores and frames, theory or fact any thought ?KrMarcus
Bill Garvy Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 It appears the maker mark on the first example is under the pin on the reverse side of the cross, whereas for the second example, it is on the reverse of the pin. It also have strong suspicions the second example may, in fact, be an "L/13" Meybauer. . .[attachmentid=38103]
Jan Arne S Posted May 7, 2006 Author Posted May 7, 2006 Hi Guys !Marcus ! No I`m not really sure that second one is a Juncker EK 1 . That is also the reason I post them both to get comments on the second cross . Not so long ago I also saw a Cross marked "Lazy 2" . And the "2" was marked later on a real unmarked cross . But I payed a normal EK 1 price for the cross , so it`s not any problem if it`s not a Juncker . Bill ! YUPP ! I also thought about Meybauer when i got larger scans on maker marks , Mark is weak in lower parts and could be a L/13 . Hope to got more comments to the cross .Jan Arne
Mike K Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 (edited) Hi Jan Arne,Imo the second cross is definitely L/13 - the lower part of the 3 is simply not formed. Further, that other mark is imo actually a "7" - typically weakly formed on 1939 Meybauer EK1s. I don't think I've seen the double Lieferant/LdO marking on a Meybauer before! Nice one.RegardsMike Edited May 7, 2006 by Mike K
Jan Arne S Posted May 7, 2006 Author Posted May 7, 2006 Hi Mike !Thanks ! Very good eye ! I should have seen the "7" . Jan Arne
Bill Garvy Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 (edited) I didn't see it either! It's my understanding that most maker marked Meybauer's, i.e. "L/13" or "7", are usually poorly marked. Here's an example of a poorly defined "7". . . (Please note the file marks on the inner corners; this cross appears to have been hand vaulted, and by whom and when remains a mystery. . .)[attachmentid=38271]Regardless, they are both fine crosses, Jan Arne! Jan Arne S Posted May 8, 2006 Author Posted May 8, 2006 (edited) Hi Bill !Thanks ! I had a choise between 2 EK 1`s , the other was marked only "7" . I have a couple of L/13 marked , but I miss a "7" marked EK 1 , so I was not sure who I should grab . But I fell down on the second one showed here . And even if it not was a "L/12" , it sems to be a good choise !Jan Arne Edited May 8, 2006 by Jan Arne S
Marcus H Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Jan Arne my friend,I think I'd rather the double marked one than an L/12 at the end of the day
Nan Su Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 I agree, Imo the second cross is L/13The pin is a typical Paul Meybauer, with the 'corner bend'.My L/13,The same good example
Marcus H Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 JC,It may help the guys to assess the cross maker if you produce pic's of the cross too.KrMarcus
