    Hello Gents,

I’m okay at researching some things but I’m crap at finding  people 🤷‍♂️
I’m hoping someone can find a name for me please 🤞

I’ve just spent my rent (worth it) on 2 uniforms belonging to a British Officer in India.

    Major W. C. Long

    Indian medical Service

He received the African General Service Medal with 1902 Somaliland bar as

    Captain W. C. Long

    His miniature on mess dress.

After the purchase I received this picture from the family which made my day…

But it’s one way contact so despite this I still don’t know his name…

    Thanks,

    tony 🍻

If you type in the tatler 3rd. january 1945 you may be able to find a bigger picture of the photo, that way you may put a face to the name.

    King regards,

    Marcon1.

PS: tried but can only find W.C. and not his christian names.

I really appreciate your help Marcon1, I’m well chuffed you found the photo, it’s even better than the name which I’m sure is out there for me to find…

I tried to ask the family for a photo but had no luck.

    Hello Gents,

I’ve found this page ‘in’ Scotland that has all sorts of lists and information including Indian service, officers, ww1…

    https://digital.nls.uk

i just don’t seem able to ‘get it’ 😡

I couldn’t get a hit when searching for my guy… so I searched just the word ‘Captain’ 👇and still got ‘no hits’ 🤷‍♂️

    Clearly I’m doing something wrong.

Is anyone familiar with the army lists able to help please 🤞

    cheers
