Ed_Haynes
Was it made without a crown or did it have "surgery" to "cleanse" it?
gor
I have bought it recently in Germany. Badge was made with crown and after had "surgery" to "cleanse" it.I think it was made in time of existence Soviet Bavarian Republic , may be he was "red pilot" ?! Do you know who was a maker of this badge? It made from silver and first mark is probably silver hallmark. Edited May 9, 2006 by gor
Luftmensch
He didn't have to be a red pilot. Few officers were reds. He probably had his badge "cleansed" on the whim of some soldiers' council.

Daniel Murphy
This is a "square" maker marked badge. And the only Bavarian one I have seen by them. Bloody shame it was cut, but it does tell a story. It does not have to have been an officers badge, there were many more unsung enlisted pilots serving with the various types of squadrons. It most likely was an issue badge.Dan Murphy
