Stogieman
Good Morning! This star is on eBay.de now. Allegedly a private purchase piece made in Paris. Quality looks very good except I think the hinge for the pin looks very clutzy and inconsistent with the rest of the piece. Opinions, comments , rude remarks?? augustin1813
I have never seen this type ojf signature from Lemaître. J. L. Guitera says that, from 1844 - 1845, Lemaître useda metalic label attached to the back of the star. (J. L. Guitera: Les marques de fabricants sur les plaques d'ordres de chevalerie en métal fabriquées à Paris de 1815 à 1870).
VtwinVince
The seller claims that this piece came out of the von Alvensleben estate. Buy the piece, not the story.
Stogieman
Agreed Vince! And based on the pin/hinge I would pass on the piece. Just doesn’t look consistent with a quality, private purchase item!
bolewts58
My guess is this might be an early Ernst Blass concoction from the 1970s. Back then, knowledge about the French maker would have been rudimentary at best and I think it would have just added a bit of exotica to the piece that would have fooled most collectors. VtwinVince
Could very well be a Blass concoction, his creations do turn up regularly.
