Stogieman Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 If you know what you're doing........... miracles can (and do) happen!
Stogieman Posted May 15, 2006 Author Posted May 15, 2006 Why?? Why the excitement?Well, The Merit Order, Merit Cross with Swords had a total of only 376 awards (one piece, with swords) between 1911-1918. The Albert Cross with Swords of the Albert Order had a total of only 1,392 awards (one piece with swords) between 1909-1918.The number of men who actually received BOTH of these very scarce awards is less than ~250 possible recipients. In addition, that's a Type II Long Service medal, which he received prior to 1913!Now that's what I call a rarity!
Ed_Haynes Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 And we thought you had sworn off sax . . on . . . medals?!
Guest Rick Research Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Don't fret gang! Assuming Evil Ricky doesn't sell it down the river first, GOOD scans will follow soon!
Daniel Murphy Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Rick, I can understand why you are excited. When I saw not only the Albert Cross, but the Merit Cross and both with swords, I muttered under my breath....OMFG. That is indeed a prize.Dan Murphy
Les Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I saw the bar, however, the quality of the photos the seller posted wasn't all that great and I wasn't certain it was real or not. Let's hope that it's real and not a heaping helping of fake stuff.... Les
