If you make the connection to the navy only because of the blue color on the reverse then you should know that this not  always the case.

 

 I love the medal bar although I would except a DA if he was in service since 1897 until end of war. But not necessarily.

Thanks for the comment and sorry for the late reply. I also brought home something else from the SOS, Flu A.  For me the bar says Navy and not just because of the backing. The Hansa Cross and Austrian Military Merit Cross combo just adds to the navy flavor for me. Still, even if it turns out not to be navy it is still a nice bar with matching feldspang.
