Ed_Haynes Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 While work is still actively underway on refurbishing and redisplaying their medal collection, I have attached some preliminary snaps of the medal collection held in the United Service Institutution (India) in New Delhi. Most are mint specimens from just before WWI, though some are named.Things are (mostly) ribboned, short descriptive notes have been added to most cases, and the lighting system has been revised (no more overhead natural ribbon-fading light, but now florescent tubes that reflect badly in horizontal glass -- better, but not perfect). The pictures are not the greatest, sorry.
Ed_Haynes Posted June 8, 2006 Author Posted June 8, 2006 And a final one, for now. Will post more if no one complains.
peter monahan Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 (edited) EdYou just keep postin" Please! Does the QSA represent all possible bars or all bars indians did/may have qualified for?Peter Edited June 10, 2006 by peter monahan
Ed_Haynes Posted June 10, 2006 Author Posted June 10, 2006 Does the QSA represent all possible bars or all bars indians did/may have qualified for?The multi-clasp medals are specimens with all (ALL) clasps, regardless of who could have qualified for them. Just await later pictures!
notned Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Definately no complaints here Ed!Fantastic! And to see ALL the bars on the QSA AND the Kedives Sudan medal...WOW!Please do not stop! Thanks!Paul
Chris Boonzaier Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Luverly !!I bet you wish you could pick a few
Tony Farrell Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 (edited) Crikey! Is that a Capture of Rodriguez in the bottom left of the first pic? Whatever, they need some loving care & attention - and a decent display case that doesn't drown them. Edited June 11, 2006 by Tony Farrell
Michael Johnson Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 I'd like to see the series of all IGS Medals with all bars up. The 1854 (23 clasps) would be about a foot long - and that's not counting the medal!
Ed_Haynes Posted June 16, 2006 Author Posted June 16, 2006 Some more views of their collection. Probably their rarest single item?
Ed_Haynes Posted June 16, 2006 Author Posted June 16, 2006 Some things that, unfortunately, all look the same
Ed_Haynes Posted June 16, 2006 Author Posted June 16, 2006 Some gallantry things. The IOM 1 (all Mutiny era) has been removed for close-up photos.
Ed_Haynes Posted June 16, 2006 Author Posted June 16, 2006 Last for now, closeups are possible on request.
notned Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Smashing stuff Ed!Thanks for showing! Now in post #12...what is this medal please? the rarest single Item...Can you possibly show a close up of the Khedives Sudan with all the clasps? thanks CheersPaul
Ed_Haynes Posted June 16, 2006 Author Posted June 16, 2006 Now in post #12...what is this medal please? the rarest single Item...Anyone care to guess?? Can you possibly show a close up of the Khedives Sudan with all the clasps? thanks Shall try to oblige. Have an old scan, from the time I first catalogued them, somewhere. But a new scan will be much prettier.
Michael Johnson Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 (edited) Love that IGS 1854 Bronze! I used to have a number of Indian bronzes, including the Sudan, but unfortunately I sold/traded them as my tastes changed and marriage/children diminished my disposable income.
