Navy Superior Civilian Service Medal.The Navy Superior Civilian Service Medal is awarded by the Secretary of the Navy for superior civilian service or contributions which have resulted in exceptional benefit to the Navy. We can't forget the Army Civilian Medals and decorations. Here is the link to them at The U.S. Army Institute of Heraldry website. It can be awarded for an act of heroism, involving risk of life, in direct benefit to the government and its personnel. If awarded for heroism, the word "Bravery" appears on the reverse of the medal.
