Haven't seen many if any of the Public Service / Civilian Medals posted on this forum yet. Here is a couple I've added. Another slippery slope I'm afraid

    1. Defense Logistics Agency - Superior Civilian Service Medal

    3. Navy Superior Civilian Service Medal.

The Navy Superior Civilian Service Medal is awarded by the Secretary of the Navy for superior civilian service or contributions which have resulted in exceptional benefit to the Navy. The services are of a lesser degree than that required for the Distinguished Civilian Service Medal.

Darrell - A very interesting thread, yes and a slippery slope if you consider all of the agencies in the US Govt that issue medals. We can't forget the Army Civilian Medals and decorations. Here is the link to them at The U.S. Army Institute of Heraldry website. I believe I have the first four service awards at home and will scan them if anyone is interested: http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/Civilian...MedalsDecor.htm

    Hi Kevin,

Nice ones. These Civilian / Public Service Medals are very underappreciated, but some of the designs are even better than the valour awards

    Ralph,

The Army Civilian Exceptional Service Medal is awarded to United States Army civilian employees who have rendered exceptional services to the Department of the Army. It can be awarded for an act of heroism, involving risk of life, in direct benefit to the government and its personnel. If awarded for heroism, the word "Bravery" appears on the reverse of the medal.

This decoration was authorized in 1960.
