    And the reverse, its hard to see, bit the medal is marked L.I. Ster. which I assume stands for Lordship Industries, Sterling -

    It's a great topic, I believe this whole area of collecting is underappreciated. It's not as high visibility or sexy as military awards. Kevin

    Yes. This group of medals have some really unusual and classic designs to them. Something that is missing with many of the Military Medals.

    The thing that surprised me when I became a Gov't civilian a few years back is that even though these are less frequently awarded than military awards for service and achievement, they are not held in high regard by most Gov't civilians, at least were I work. Even thought someone might get just one or two of these awards in a career, time off or monetary incentive awards are what folks really appreciate. Kevin

    Airforce Command Civilian Award for Valour (Gold) - Obverse

    The Air Force Civilian Award for Valor is awarded to any Air Force civilian employee who exhibits great courage and voluntarily risks personal safety beyond the call of duty such as approaching or entering a burning aircraft in an attempt to rescue trapped victims.

    Airforce Exceptional Civilian Service Medal - Obverse

    The Air Force Exceptional Civilian Service Medal is the highest recognition granted an individual or group within the Air Force. It is awarded to any Air Force civilian employees who have performed their assigned duties for at least one year which result in profound Air Force-wide impact to programs or projects as documented by development of improved methods or procedures, initiation of revolutionary ideas, or unprecedented achievements or benefits to the government.

    Airforce Meritorious Civilian Service Medal - Obverse

    The Air Force Meritorious Civilian Service Medal is awarded to any Air Force civilian employee who have performed their assigned duties for at least one year in an exemplary manner, with a reasonable degree of command-wide mission impact, setting a record of individual achievement and serving as an incentive to others to improve the quality and quantity of their work performance; exercise unusual initiative in devising new and improved work methods and procedures that resulted in a substantial savings in manpower, time, materials, or other items of expense; improving safety or health of employees; improving morale of workers in a unit which resulted in improvement of work performance and esprit de corps.

    Airforce Exemplary Civilian Service Medal - Obverse

    The Air Force Exemplary Civilian Service Medal is awarded to recognize an individual or group for clearly outstanding service in support of the command mission or goals. They must have performed their assigned duties for at least one year in an outstanding manner or performing a single service that significantly contributes to the accomplishment of the command mission. Service must clearly demonstrate specific examples of how the employee exceeded service expected of an individual with similar responsibilities.

    Army Civilian Achievement Service Medal - Obverse

    The Army Civilian Achievement Medal is awarded for meritorious service to civilian employees of the US Army.

    Army Exceptional Public Service Medal - Obverse

    The Army Exceptional Public Service Medal is awarded by the Secretary of the Army to civilians not employed by the Federal government who render outstanding public service to the Department of the Army.

    Army Outstanding Civilian Service Medal - Obverse

    The Army Outstanding Civilian Service is awarded by the Secretary of the Army as a junior award, the services must be the same as required for the Distinguished Civilian Service Medal but to a lesser degree.

    Airforce Civilian Air Medal - Obverse

    The Air Force Civilian Air Medal is awarded to any civilian member of the Armed Forces of the United States who distinguishes themself by meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight. Additionally, it is given for meritorious services, or for sustained distinction in the performance of duties involving aerial flight.
