Here is a grouping of insignia representing the Garde Reserve Pionier Regiment. The Kragenlitzen on the top are for the M07/10 simplified tunic and the lower pair are for the Bluse. The shoulder straps are M1915 examples from Garde Pionier units.

Chip, I have dozens of photos of flamethrower pioneers, and in every one, the Litzen on the simplified tunics appear to be white rather than gray. Could you cite for me the regulation that calls for them to be gray?

    Thomas,

In March of 1915, all contingents adopted the shortened (7cm) Litzen, which at that time were still white. So the change came some time between then and September 1915 when the new gray Bluse Litzen were introduced. I don't know the date of the regulation, but I do have a copy of the 1915 AVBs and will look through there to see if I can find it.

One of only 3 FW TKs that I personally know of, although there are apparently a further 2 floating around somewhere.

    Robin,

I know of four enlisted and one officer example. Three of the enlisted ones are now in the States. So, by count, that makes the black skull version the more rare model.:rolleyes:

    Robin,

The one I know of (besides the officer's model in Rastatt) is in Germany. I didn't know about the one in Scotland.

This is on eBay right now. I was getting ready to budget out an insane amount of money, because I've never seen the Garde-Reserve-Piionier-Regiment and Sturmbataillon Nr. 5 (Rohr) badges worn by the same guy. I was going to fight tooth and nail for it. To the death, I tell you!

But it's a reproduction photo. Oh, well.
