Steve campbell Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I have a new camera and have decided to post pictures of my EK2's. Hopefully they will be of use to someone. Some I have questions on, such as unmarked ones, others are pretty straight forward. Please feel free to comment on any of them and let me know if they're all good. Hope the pictures are alright.First up is a KO. I hear there are diffrent cores for these. Can anyone tell which one this is? Thanks for looking.
Motorhead Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 This is a good one-"KO" is the maker with the most variations,so this one here(without seeing the maker mark) looks very good to me.Wartime made and in very good condition. It would be interesting how many different "KOs" 2nd class we could find here.....Micha
Steve campbell Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 Thanks Micha. Good to know my pieces are genuine. This next one is in nice shape but ummarked. If anyone has any ideas about the maker or other comments that would be great. I'm not sure if the pictures are good enough to tell however. Not much daylight around here these days. This piece has wider than normal flanges and not alot of detail in the crown.
Steve campbell Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 Here's one of my favorites. It has a real nice look and is in great condition. It's marked G for Godet.
Steve campbell Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 And the rear of the Godet. Not quite as clear a picture.
Steve campbell Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 Here's a marked CD800. Decent shape.
DavidM Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 HelloFrom what I can make out in the pictures they all look good to me.
Steve campbell Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 Thanks. I'm no expert but I think most of my stuff is good. We'll see after I post the rest. I know everything is faked these days but I feel the 1914 EK2 is one of then safer bets around.
Steve campbell Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 Here's another. Man, this is alot of work. This is marked ED. I bought it as an FD but I don't think there is such a thing. I've been advised it's an ED. These maker marks can be hard to figure out sometimes. That small bit of rust is only visible in the photo.
Steve campbell Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 Here's one I'd like some help with. I bought it as an S marked cross but the mark on the ring is hard to read. Could be an S but I'm not sure. Does anyone have an S marked cross that this could compare to? Does it look like an S? Thanks for looking.
Steve campbell Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 Here's the rear of the alleged S marked cross.
Steve campbell Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 This was my first 1914 EK2 and I must say it's nice. The core is really clean. The maker mark apperas to be a V but again hard to really tell. Is it something else? A Y? Can anyone tell?
Steve campbell Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 Here's the rear of the V cross. It would be nice to figure this one out.
Bill Garvy Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 (edited) Here's an "S" in 2nd Class for comparison, Steve. . .obverse:reverse:maker mark:They apear to be identical. . . Edited December 31, 2006 by Bill Garvy
Steve campbell Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 Thanks. What do you think? I find it so hard to be certain. The thing that convinces me is the maker mark itself. Looks like the same mark that's on mine.
Steve campbell Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 Here's an interesting one. It has a zinc core. It's marked on the ring with that sqaure punch mark. Not sure if it's a maker mark, a quality control mark or something else. I'm not sure if anyone really knows. I really like this variant.
Steve campbell Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 Here's the rear of the square punch marked cross. I like the rear detail here.
Steve campbell Posted January 1, 2007 Author Posted January 1, 2007 Happy New Year everyone. This cross here has been a mystery to me. It came with a full ribbon and a 39 spange attached. This piece has 2 different markings on it, both on the small ring that is attached to the cross itself, not the ring the ribbon attaches to. Even with a 15x loup I cannot make out either mark. One appears to be some sort of stylized symbol, and the other one maybe 3 numbers or letters. I just cannot tell. There's no way I can get a picture of these marks either. If anyone has any idea about what these marks may be or knows who the maker is that would be great.
Steve campbell Posted January 1, 2007 Author Posted January 1, 2007 Here's the rear of this double marked cross. The frame on this one is quite shiney.
Steve campbell Posted January 1, 2007 Author Posted January 1, 2007 This next piece is either unmarked or the mark is unreadable. I'm not sure. May just be a small scratch. If it's anything it may be an F.
Steve campbell Posted January 1, 2007 Author Posted January 1, 2007 And here's the rear of the unmarked/unreadable cross. Any ideas?
