    YU-HSL

    Gentlemen,

Rauch's auction in Vienna http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=19027 presented a YU-HSL and resulted in the following hammer price (incl. all fees & taxes in EURO):

    - YU-HSL (cased, with ribbon, fresh from the mint) - ? 4.800,-

That order is extremly rare and only 4 times before the YU-HSL had been at auction and yielded rather ident hammer prices.

    Best regards

    Dear Ed,

I didn't have the budget to buy that beauty .... :(

It might have been the last chance to see that rarity with a price tag of around USD 6.000,- ....

I think, the YU-HSL is the most artistic of all HSL around  .

    Best regards

    Wow!

    Thanks for this, Christian.

Anatoly, I hope you don't mind. I have merged the 2 topics speaking about this very nice order. That way we now have all the information on that particular order in one thread!

Here are 2 pictures from this order I had on my computer.

I am not sure, but look at the girls. It seems that they are not all looking on the same side when compared.

My oppinion is, that all girls are looking in the same side. The diferece between them on the two upper pictures is, by my oppinon, in how the upper piece of the order in positioned on the bottom piece. If you compare the girl at one o'clock on the upper picture and the girl at four o'clock on the botom picture, you will see that they are the same. And then follow equal girls in the same order.

    Gentlemen,

I think that we defined two types of this order

    1. with genuine stones

    2. with synthetic stones

I saw lately an Order of Hero of Socialist Labour with serial number on reverse.

I have Problem with classification since I don?t know what stones in this order were used.

What do you think should we define variation to each type:

1.1. with genuine stones with serial number

1.2. with genuine stones without serial number

2.1. with synthetic stones with serial number

2.2. with synthetic stones without serial number

    The second Problem:

If you look at reverse of Order which was presented by Anatoly you will find out that edge of large silver elements looks differently as in other types.

What does it meant again? Do all order with synthetic stones the same design of reverse as shown in Anatoly?s order or do we have again different types or variations?

Do you have any idea how to classify this order?

    Thanks waldemar

Maybe after you see it, we will have better understanding about classification.

I think that we can only define type based on art of used stones and other differences should be counted as variations.

    look at this:

    Dear Waldemar!

This award was given out of quantity of 114 copies only! It's not a mass edition as an Order of Labor, for example, and practically handmade jeweller work.

Each award can have different fine detals.

Moreover manufacture of these awards has been strongly stretched on time, that undoubtedly too has led to occurrence of distinctions.

To see and study all 114 awards it is impossible. Therefore I would not try to classify on fine details. By the way, I saw documents to an award № 17 and there this number is not specified anywhere!

    Dear Anatoly,

thank you for comments. I think that you are right, the only differentiation are used stones.

Have you ever seen first type with genuine stones?

This is best book about Yugoslavian Order and Medals in preparation. :D

This 'MY YU-Bible' has app. 500 pages and hundreds of images and is not yet ready.

It is written in my 'Swahili' English.

It should be ready till summer.

Because of high printing costs it is not yet clear if this book will be ever printed.unsure.gif

    Two pages from introduction:

Text(at the moment) excerpted from Yugoslavia: A Country Study, Glenn E Curtis, ed. (Washington, D.C. Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress, 1992. Images, internet or my property.

    Hello Waldemar

I had the oportunity to hold at least 12 different items in my hands and none of them had genuine stones. If there has been a couple of items with genuine stones then they have been awarded to "special" friends. Maybe we should check the one which was awarded to Ceausescu.

AS Anatoly stated already I think that due to a high grade of "real" manual work you will find slight diferences in almost all of the 114 issued pieces. Or how I like to say one was made by Mike on monday and the next one is out of the hands of George who had a real bad night the day before. :D

Keep the work going it looks perfect !
