. . . Bolkhovityaninov had worked in ichthyologic research and in early 1930s was the director of the Pacific Institute of Fishing Industry. Interestingly, 1950 was the first year when Stalin Prize 3rd cl. started being awarded for science - only 2nd and 1st classes had been awarded to scientists prior to that.
