Perhaps a bit of narative may be helpful. With thanks to Eric Queen, what is on display here is a reunited pair of Fallschirm Infanterie Batallion NCO boards (left), alsongside a pair of boards of the Infanterie Lehr Battlion with buttons for the 15th Kompagnie (right).To quote Eric: The FIK (Fallschirm Infanterie Kompanie) was the 15th company of the Infanterie Lehr Rgt. from 4/37 to 6/38. During this time, they used the strap with the white "L". The Kompanie expanded to a Batl. in June of 38 and at that point they began using the "FJ" straps. Of course the Lehr regiment continued to use staps with a white L later in the war, but those straps are not for the Fallschirm Infanterie. Kompgnie, Infanterie Lehr Regiment, the Fallschirm infanterie Kompagnie. The pic shows the button with Nr. 15.
