    1. There are many examples of fake badges where manufacturers names have been spelt wrong or non existent manufacturers LDO or Lieferant numbers used. Who knows why ? Possibly a mistake or ignorance on the part of the faker or maybe (but unlikely) as a warning that this is not good. You need to look past the manufacturers mark and compare the rest of the detail of the award with a known original, by the maker that this purports to be. I warrant this will clarify things a little more.
    2. Cheers Don It shows nothing escapes the fakers flame
    3. Not so sure on todays RN regulations but there certainly use to be a Ceremonial Warrant Officers Sword and sword belt for RN Chief Petty Officers. I think the sword was plainer with a black handle compared to the officers sword ? I found this link but it does not show CPOs only POs Uniforms: http://www.royal-marines.mod.uk/static/pages/7097.html DevonRex may be able to help as he is mob.
    4. Here is an award document on Vellum for the 1911 Kings Coronation Medal.
    5. Raz Nice pins I like the design. I learn something new every day
    6. It is against the club rules to discuss politics... but there are historic parallels at work....although perhaps a lot more benign
    7. Mark Wow. That jacket is certainly in amazing condition !! Any ideas of who the original owner was ?
    8. Very nice stuff guys...... especially that police bar John.... jumping
    9. One of my favourite designs although not Third Reich.
    10. Great stuff ! Was the German sub playing blue forces for the exercise or was this a case of sorry guys we have just torpedoed you !!
    11. Tony Looks like a genuine Third Reich Era Ribbon Bar to me.
    12. I am going to have to get my camera out now !
    13. Awaloff Cross ? You are going to have to enlighten me on this one, it looks like a cross between the Order of St John and the SS ?
    14. I revisited Portsmouth including the Dockyard and HMS Victory a few weeks ago. This followed a wedding onboard HMS Warrior which was an awesome place to hold a wedding wub.gif I have to say despite the rushed tour on Victory I was really impressed with the whole set up down there and the Royal Naval Museum was excellent, far superior to the Naval Museum At Greenwich which was pretty poor (mind you the Nelson area was being done up for a new exhibition, which would have made the trip worthwhile I am sure). I have also been on USS Constitution, but I have to say for me HMS Victory beat it hands down That because Nelson only lost the sight in one eye, he did not lose his eye and contrary to popular myth he did not wear an eye patch.
    15. Very emotive subject Gentlemen with much truth being said. However can I remind you that the club rules do stipulate no politics and I can see this post starting to slip into this category. Thank you Chairman
    16. Rick I think your original suggestion fits spot on. District Police Constable Reserve.
    17. No it should be worn directly on the uniform. It could be worn on the Defence Medal if awarded during WW2, but otherwise it should be worn directly on the uniform.
    18. Rick Let me digest your requests and I will get back to you. Nick
    19. Not just a German thing mind. British 17th/21st Lancers Badge. Now called the Queens Royal Lancers.
    20. Rick This all seems rather complicated, it must be a nightmare to administrate the issue of these medals !
    21. I will see if I can get better copies of this to post.
