    1. Hello, I've just realised that a photo of an airship I have had for the last 5 or 6 years has the number L70. I've done a quick search in the net and it appears the pilot who shot it down was the heir to Cadbury's chocolate. Was this the last, or one of the last airships to be shot down by the RAF? Tony
    2. Here's the reverse and as can be seen by the catch, Dr Eggert must have been a bit of a DIY person too. Tony
    3. Here's one that some of you may have already seen, it arrived a few days ago and I think it is really great. Tony Ooops, I've just realised that this should have gone in the Iron Cross forum.
    4. Hello Robin, This sign unusual in that it isn't enamel, it's a sort of pressed wood. I've never seen wooden ones before. Tony
    5. Hello, Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the dodgy cuff titles have the same sized voids in the lettering e.g. R and P. What about this one? Looking closely the voids do have different sizes but only slightly. I'd like to hear what you think. Thanks Tony
    6. Hello Andy, It is a K but I'm afraid K (as far as I know) is one of the many unknown makers. Tony
    7. Hello Darrell, First of all I know whose medals they must have been. The must have belonged to my step-father's dad as he had the same but they went missing. Feeling guilty? Want to give them to me if you should get them soon? As for your question, I believe the Defence Medal was awarded to members of defence units like the ARP or Flak. My Grandad was in the RAC but received the Defence Medal along with his Stars but I don't know what he defended in England before going to France in June 44. Tony
    8. Very nice Allan, especially those ones with the mother of pearl (?) press stud buttons. Tony
    9. How is the spange joined to the cross, is it soldered? What was the usual way of joining a combination? Tony
    10. Not only do I like your badges but you've got a very good camera too! Are are you just mega skilled at taking pics? Tony
    11. Thanks for having a look Gordon, I was sort of hoping you'd know it. I wonder who did make it then? Tony
    12. I'd leave it as it is but you could try soot from a diesel exhaust pipe. It won't make it look perfect but maybe a little better than at the moment. If it doesn't work you wouldn't have damaged it either. Tony
    13. Hello Darrell, It's great to have family stuff! The tunic looks to be in good nick, was it his war time tunic or one issued for smarter dress? What's the maple leaf bar for? Tony
    14. Hello Andy, I'm with Dave on this. The cross itself looks good to me, crisp and detailed but the ribbon does look a little suss. Tony
    15. Hello Gordon, This is great information! I'm going to a couple of markets in Cologne tomorrow and although I won't be buying any KM badges, I'll be checking them to see if anything has sunk in. Tony
    16. You lot are making me think about collecting KM and KW awards, I just don't have the funds or knowledge to do it though. Does Coastal Artillery belong to the KM? Tony
    17. John, Another great thread, keep them coming. I just need to find someone to donate the money for one of these badges. Tony
    18. I have a 57 EKI here with a strange catch, does anyone know who the maker could be? Tony
    19. I think we need to research those Germans sitting on it and if any of them are still alive, we'll not only find out what it is but probably also where they are and what happened to the crew. Any volunteers who want to start researching? wub.gif Tony
    20. I've just noticed the runes to decipher probably aren't runes at all. It's NSV! This shows the sign maker. Tony
    21. Hello, I wasn't sure which section to put this in so if this is the wrong place please feel free to move it. It is a 3rd Reich Kindergarten sign and I don't suppose there are many of these around. Can anyone decipher the runes? What does the V in NSV stand for? Thanks Tony
