    1. The pics are great Jason, you are very lucky to have them. Is the cemetery at Beaudesert civvi or military? Just re-read, his mate is from Beaudesert and the cemetery is probably elsewhere. If you have more please keep them coming. Tony
    2. Thanks Garth, The story from the family is that he was known as a sharpshooter but I suppose he could have been a scout. A shame that no one alive actually knew him. Cheers Tony
    3. By your Victorian medals Brilliant, I wouldn't mind seeing them either. Garth, can you ID the badge in this thread for me please? http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3221 Tony
    4. Jason, Great history from your family and I'm with David, please keep the scans coming. In fact, it must be nearly tomorrow where you are now Tony
    5. Tom, I wonder if he has anything to do with the Moeller Werke which is still in Brackwede. I cycle past there on the way to work on the odd occasions when I leave the car at home. Oops, just noticed Dave has already mentioned the business. Tony
    6. If he was on the bad guy's side how was he awarded British medals? Tony
    7. Hello Bob, I'll send you a link or two to some internet sites when I get home from work. You'll get an idea of the prices and they will be dealers you should be able to trust A good book is The Researcher's Guide to the Great War but as the title suggests, it only deals with 1914-18. We have some very knowledgeable members on British awards so I'm sure they'll be able to help you further. Tony
    8. Hello Joe, I've only have a few pairs and all were either signal red, crimson or dark blue. Tony
    9. Sal, My son ran through the lot earlier, even my upside down one only the 4 prop aeroplanes put him off a bit as did Marcus' comments. He then agreed that Marcus is probably correct. As he's only 11 he might have been making it up as he went along because he knows I don't have a clue. He does know his German planes though so I'll get him to look at them tomorrow. Tony
    10. Great pics there Sal. Due to the prices these are fetching (and have been over the last few years), I unfortunately only have one photo to add. Tony
    11. Here's another period pic, not so much detail as on the one above but still a fantastic photo. Don, are you the same Don as the Don I bought the card from? Tony
    12. Yeah she does and it's bloody expensive. I think stable rent is an EK an month. Tony
    13. Chris or anyone else, I have a QSM and would like to know if the soldier was a casualty or not. Is there anything like the CWGC for the Boer War? Tony
    14. Don't muck about with it, if she did it I'd be tempted to leave it alone. Who else would put the hook on? Tony
    15. Got my credit card in my pocket so have just done it. The BWM was her only award, apart from that the card was very empty. I'll have to add a scan when I get home from work as the screen went all funny here and froze over while trying to print it off. I'll also send you the pdf by email. Tony
    16. No problem Chris, You'll have to wait till I get home tonight though and don't worry about the loot, I drank enough of your beer in Verdun to cover that.
    17. Simple, Go on the NA site and type in her surname, she's the only one there. Put it in the basket thingy and pay ?3.50 by credit card. A pdf of the MiD can then be accessed. You could also get one of your pilot mates at work to drop you off in London, catch the tube to Kew, photocopy the MiD and be back in Frankfurt for tea. Put the card on here after you've downloaded it so we can translate it unless of course it's a straight forward easy to understand card. If you get lost let me know and I'll download it. Tony
    18. Hello Michael, I've already downloaded his MiC which shows he only received the pair, it also gave me the info that he served as a driver in the RGA before being transferred to the Labour Corps but, didn't mention his service in the TA. All of his medals were pawned a while after he died so I would think that means his WWII medals too. Tony
    19. I've just typed in BWM on www.ebay.morocco and they have 16 BWMs named to Belgian agents. I'll up my offer by playing with Whisky for an hour and won't moan about the dribble. Tony
    20. I've been thinking it over Chris, how about 15 Euros, 2 cans of Old Speckled Hen and I'll play with Whisky and his ball for half an hour next time I see him. Tony
    21. Chris you lucky bugger!! Welcome back by the way. I'll give you 10 whole Euros and a can of Old Speckled Hen for it. Deal? Maron-Nizet, Elizabeth M Corps Regiment No Rank Belgian Agents
    22. No he wasn't a policeman. Maybe it is his pair and the light that day was playing tricks. I might be better off contacting the medal office and waiting a year or so for the answer. Tony
