    1. Fw-200C Condor (F8+KH) of 1./ Kampfgeschwader 40 crashed at Oberkohlhofen, with Oberleutnant Heinz Helleberg and crew (all killed). Bob, this French Schneider tank belonging to Group AS2, was knocked out near Juvincourt on April 16, 1917 by a 7.7cm gun (Feldkanone 96 n.A.) from the Nahkampfbatterie 218 (Close Combat Battery 218). The tank commanded by S/Lt Pierre Debru?res made it all the way to the third German line at Juvincourt. The gun fired from a hidden emplacement at point blanc distance, less then 300 meters. After receiving six direct hits, in the front, the tank caught fire and exploded tearing the roof off. Four of the six men crew were killed incl. S/Lt Pierre Debru?res. chalk writing on the front: Batterie 218 16. IV 17 Hardy

    8. A change of claim: 1.) Picture taken shortly after the destruction on April 16, 1917 - claim: "destroyed by the Bavarian Close-Combat-Battery 218 - April 16, 1917" 2.) The same tank a while later (note: most of the chalk writing is washed of by rain) 3.) Again the same tank now with new chalk writing (note the remains of the former writing) - new claim: " In close combat destroyed by 4/154 on April 16, 1917"

When I applied for my test (quite a few years ago) the fee included the award - if you lost it or you wanted an extra badge you had to order it from the <i>Deutschen Reiterlichen Vereinigung</i> by sending a copy of your award document. - note: the Reiterabzeichen in wear (2007) - the current ones are made by Steinhauer& Lück in the same design as the old ones, but without the ®
