Hi, Yes I can make out the rank strips on the sleeves now you mention it, but the star not so easy. So assuming that is correct, which I would certainly bow to your expertise, what what the rank be looking like for this period and tunic?

Hi, thank you for the ID. It had no buttons on it when we found it in the Dacha (I'm surprised it had not paint marks on it, after the use it had). It has no loops for the epaulettes so early? Or lower rank? Could it be made a high ranking officer? What would your suggetion be? Really I only have it because of the family connection, I have quite a few naval uniforms, but this one is old and interesting. Any help as always much appreciated. Cheers Rex

Hi All, I hope this is not an obvious question but are there any decent books on Romanian Communist period badges, insignia and medals? I think I've seen one of airforce wings, but any others? I'm a firm believer in getting good reference books, can save a world of pain to have some good knowledge behind you at times.

I have in my collection a photo of a recipient wearing the Order of the White Eagle, The Order of St. Sava and the Karadjordje Star with Swords. Taken (according to the information written on the back of the photo 1926) Of Branko (Branislav) ? Who was a member of Parliament for the Peoples Radical Party of Serbia in the early 1920's. It is really not my field of interest or expertise (I collect more the communist period items) but such an interesting photo I could not resist it. If any one has any information on Branko ? I would be very interested. Thanks

Hi, I have this white tunic which I rescued from my wifes parents dacha (being used as a paint jacket) it was given to my mother in law in the 80's I guess by a colleague who served in the River Fleet in the late 40's. Can anyone give me any idea if it is meant to have shoulder boards or any type of insignia (the buttons are not correct I kinow) it has no markings I can find, but is made of a good white twill material and seems to be well made, any ideas most welcome. I hope this is not too much a newbie repeat question, but is there someone in the group who can recommend a reliable person who still does research in the former Minister of Defence Archives in Moscow? I am researching my wifes grandfather who was an officer in the Soviet Army. Order of Glory 3 and 2nd class among other awards, we have some details (and photos), but would like to get a copy of his military record and award card. Unfortunatly all his medals and awards were given to a local musuem in Russia (as per his wish) but as with many things "they have been lost". So to cut a long story short, we would like to rebuild the group and would like to know more about his time of service during WW2. And at present we won't be back in the Russian Federation until next year. Regards Rex

I'm a little surprised how plain the Hungarian Generals caps are, sure the tunics are nice and I just love the shoulder boards, and your information is great, I'm very pleased you took the time to reply. It's going to be very interesting getting to grips with the more detailed aspects of Hungarian uniforms and regalia. Thanks also for the heads up on the books. I followed the thread on the books and various guys efforts in doing research and writing. Having had two books published on Italian WW2 regalia, I can totally appreciate how much blood and effort it takes to get a book done, and as someone said little fame, or money but a great deal of satisfaction. By the way the link that was given for the English language book did not work, can you provide me any details and of course if it is still available. But once gain many thanks.
