    1. Cheap Scope ..... EUR95 Cheap rifle ..... EUR450 Not realising that what you see is not what you get at 1m distance.... Priceless!!!!
    2. Indeed, book pages. the faker has used the 112 stamp before with his older style... http://www.kaiserscross.com/76501.html
    3. Hi I have always had the feeling the British dealers take the high road, or at least look down their noses at german or European collecting fields where it is comman that groups are split as they are not named anyway... But to split a REAL group, even if not complete..... its simply not cricket!
    4. Hi, that is what I mean, they are not the most common shades used, so taking that into account, plus the fact that both have red stripes, I have no problem believing they are from the same unit.
    5. Same fake I think... http://www.ebay.de/itm/121753688861?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Here
    6. Here is a write up about Lagarde, as seen by the recipient Ernst Lettenmayer... http://www.kaiserscross.com/69501/547822.html
    7. So possibly something North American? What did the Canadian Mounties carry back then?
    8. September 2015 (2) I have finally finished the 1st part of the Bavarian Jäger at Lagarde, the Baptism of Fire of the Aschaffenburger Jäger as seen by the Battalion Commander Oberstleutnant Ernst Lettenmayer. Also included are a number of award documents to Lettenmayer that I was lucky enough to find earlier this year. Harry has not only a bumper article about the The 2nd Battalion The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment in East Africa 1914-1917 but also a selection of Photographs that show the beautiful but deadly countryside in Africa Some time ago I posted the list of Officers who served in the South African Mounted Brigades in East Africa, from the list it is possible to see what an incredible percentage of men were invalided due to disease.
    9. It is, the bar is 1960s I think
    10. Here you go, the color one is no longer part of the sries, but in the black and white ones, 1) Infantry 2) Arty and 4) Pionier... missing is the 3)
    11. I am no expert on Camo helmets, but am I wrong in thinking that the actul colors here are a bit out of the ordinary?
    12. Very nice card. In the series there are I think 4 cards, Pionier, Infantry, Artillery (for sure) and I assume the 4th may be cavalry.
    13. Hi, the photo is of a postcard showing the Bavarians attacking at Avocourt. I just scanned it and printed it out.
    14. I think Christies should be above something like this.
    15. I think post war. The german army used them into the 90 I think?
    16. What kind of serious British Auction house would split a group like this??
    17. Hi, next step would be to figure out, which ones were worn on the Cap, which ones on the collar and which ones were not made for the uniform. So far most 11th Division ones I have seen (other than Edelweiss and Karpathan) have been on the collar?
    18. I know there is a lot of Austrian Crossover... but what badges are out there that are purely German? Karpathan, 11 Bavarian Division, 8th Bavarian Reserve Division ?
    19. I dont know.... when the order came down to Camoflage Helmets I think it more probable that they were painted at Company Level, which would probably be the lowest unit level with their own workshop, It would keep the transporting of equipment backwards and forwards to a minimum. So technically, if you have 2-3 guys doing helmets for the company, it is very possible that we have helmets done by the same hand. It would of course be counter productive to have individual soldiers paint their helmets.. "Uniform" being the order of the day...
    20. Hi, he seems to have been wounded before the fighting for Souville, but still in an area just as interesting, in the Caillettewald, we were walking it last month.... it is right in the triangle between Fleury, Douaumont and Vaux...
    21. Beautiful!... Whats she holding? ;-)
    22. That is an interesting developement!! Do you think they are period?
