    4. I took Adolf Breuer's Iron Cross 1st class document to the North Eastern Corner of the Cemetary at Craonne.... He won the award while attached to Sturmbataillon Nr. 7 (2 Companies of Sturmbataillon Rohr werer attached to S.B. Capitaine Pierre Joseph Romain Rochas, vicomte d'Aiglun Officer in the 108th Infantry regiment he died on the 22nd of August 1914 while attacking the village of Nevraumont, On this day, the 22nd of August 1914 the French army lost 27 000 men killed in action... As i had been planning for some time, I visited the village today, 100 years after his death... and took a little something with me to photograph.... he never made it into the village back then... but in a way he did today....

    13. That is a very nice link IMHO, especially as, if it is Arty Merck, Fußartillerie is more "Divisional" than a Feldartillerie Unit. Best Chris
    14. Although the regiment itself seems to have been on the eastern front for the war, many cavalry officers seem to have served in other functions....
    15. You have one of each of them in the Dragonner Regiment 18.... which was Mecklenburg.... as was half the 54 ID..... That I think may be the link....

    19. Hi, We must differentiate between surrendering/being Captured and laying down arms. Boers who made a concious decision to lay down their arms and either to simply stop fighting, or swearing an oath to stop fighting did not qualify. However, those who were captured and then sent to POW camps (Usually out of the country) did qualify. best Chris

    21. Indeed, Suchodolski had a number of cards in this format, his designs were also used for Iron Cross documents, like that of Sturmbataillon Rohr...
