    1. Can an Aussie identify some of the goodies? http://www.canberratimes.com.au/act-news/victoria-cross-recipient-keith-paynes-medals-to-go-on-display-at-australian-war-memorial-20140618-zsd9s.html Hats off to a Hero....
    2. Here is a thought to the wooden handeled Schutztruppen Bayonet in Post 10. These are not K.S.XXXX stamped and were made in 1913. Almost all seem to have been brought back to South Africa by South African troops and I have always assumed they were GSWA souveniers.... New thought... why do we assume GSWA? Why not GEA? There were just as many South African troops there... most served in both theaters. GSWA must have been well stocked by 1913, is there any reason to think they would need a last rsupply in Bayonets just before the outbreal of the war? GEA, thats another story... http://www.kaiserscross.com/188001/476201.html See above for wartime resupply... 3 800 "modern" Rifles... and presumably the bayonets to go with them?
    3. Hmmmm.... the original proposed design for the cross and worth waaaaaaay more than USD59!! ;-)
    4. Hi, definately not because of lack of interest, more because only a tiny fraction of our members have the skills needed to add anything. My hat off to both of youse and my undying jealousy at your talents!!
    5. Very nice indeed. I have been looking for one for some time. Last time I almost bought one, I hestitated, and it was sold out from under my nose!
    6. If I understand correctly, the O- numbers were pre 1942 officers numbers? Well, I was hoping for a Merrils Marauder or something, but at least I know now who he was... :-) Thanks Chris
    7. Check out post 157 and 158 ;-) http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/13054-sturm-bataillon/page-8#entry591642
    8. Hi, I know absolutely nothing about these... so maybe someone can talk me through it? I bought it ages ago because of the "Edelweiss" Division.... Is the Silver medal I Kl. something good? Thanks Chris
    9. Indeed... the best way to keep clothes in good condition... is never to wear them ;-) These have never been unrolled, still stapeled into the back..
    10. Hi Dave, Thanks, So it looks like the second guy could be mine? Buried in Arizona. I have a Kukri with the name and number hammered into it and I seem to remember it came from an Ebay seller in Arizona or New Mexico many eons ago. So that may be a match. Thats a bunch further than I got in the last 15 years looking for him!
    11. Hi, I have never ever seen anything like them, Lots of German units wore them as the war progressed, but these have the stereotypical image of the 1915 era mountain troops. Some folks dont like ebay... but I got these for a 3rd of what i would have paid... maybe even a quarter.... Ebay rocks ;-)
    12. Hi, This has been a search that has gone nowhere in the last 10 years... maybe the resources have improved in that time... Jack E Ward O-1648755 or Jack E Ward O-1648751or Jack E Ward O-164875? Does anyone have any idea if there is a database? From my research it shows he must have been a Pre 1942 officer, probably serving in the CBI theater. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Chris
    13. They seem to be collectors items all on their own... When they first came out I did not get one as I don't really collect medals... but as my document collection increases (outside of the EK documents), I see it has its uses... and it is a pretty nice item to have. I was wondering if it would be possible to continue to tabulate the items not listed there... as and when the info becomes availible? i.e. the hanseaten statistics etc etc... Folks could simply print them out and add them to their copy. Maybe I am showing my ignorence here... but was knowledge has become availible since then?
    14. Keeping an eye on Sascha Woeschlers updates is a hobby of mine... I was fast enough to get myself a Ludvigsen .....
    15. As I am heavy on Sturmbataillon Nr. 7 at the moment..... On the 28th of July 1917 the crown Prince visited the battalion after the Heavy fighting on the Chemin des Dames.... he awarded 6 EK1s and just over 100 EK2s.....
