    1. aaaarrgghh... i need one as well.... and that is in exceptional condition!!!
    2. Here is a thought... a wild guess.... as the cavalry trot around on their Jolly Jumpers, I am sure an iron cross or two was bounced out of its loops and lost on the parade ground, along the road or wherever. However, with the small hole you could theoretically sew a security thread to the tunic, and stop it slipping out of the loops when the horse was trotting? Just a thought...
    3. Hi, i am always ready to provide scans to "good guys", but am always pissed when I see a Pic someone paid real money for, copied and pasted without a credit. Whole pages of kaiserscross have been copied and pasted elsewhere... so I try and make their life harder. Also the guys who sell pics on ebay with "this is a print of a copy of a photo" hidden somewhere in the decsription need to have something to stop them copying pics... Other Photos are bought with a specific purpose in mind, and on occasion cost a pretty penny... having the photo used elsewhere may defeat that purpose. then there are 2 solutions... If you want to post it but make sure it will not be used elsewhere, Tag it... The other solution is to not show it and hide it in a drawer until you use it for whatever the specific purpose is. I think then the tags are better. I remember when Ed flipped out about tags, but at the same time I think he had deleted his website to avoid people using some of his pictures... ;-)
    4. Here is a nice pic of Wilhelm Spaeth, KIA at Verdun, showing the Edelweiss being worn....
    5. It reminds me of the Gentlemen war.... There is an account of the later stages of the war where the boers could not take prisonners... so they let the captured British soldiers go... De la Reys commando once captured a British soldier for the 3rd Time... De la Rey wanted to send an official complaint to his commander...
    6. haha... you just have to begin to hang out in the right places!!
    7. Visiting a cemetary today andfound these by chance....
    8. Inside they look like this... bullets mint, but without powder...
    9. Hi, I think this was a copy, the CUGERS is a wrongly written Rogers. Apparently knives made in Sheffield dont have "Sheffield steel" on them, only knives made elsewhere from steel made in sheffield. From what I have read, these were made in Pakistan or India from some time in the 1940s - 70s, highest production in the 60s. The iron crosses apparently for show.... No reason why an allied soldier should not have bought one somewhere along the line...
    10. Having just watched all the Sharp Series onYoutube, I find these to be really interesting! Nice medal indeed. What kind of fighting reputation did the KGL have?
    11. These are also not sexy... unless you read the unit and where they were.... So those are my three 99 R.I.R. Somme Docs...
    12. But this IS a first day of the somme casualty... and in a very good "neighbourhood"... I think they were facing the Ulster division if my memory serves correct...
    13. Soooo many collectors pay lip service to "history"... but dont care at all for the events of back then. Recently on a German forum a guy was saying he would not pay more than 20EUR or so for a death certificate in its roll. he obviously had no interest in the units or actions they represent.... The one here you could lay 1000EUR on the table, and not get it... (because it is worth more to me ;-) http://www.kaiserscross.com/40029/129601.html So this trimmed one would be... maybe 10EUR on his scale?
    14. Hi, but these are Austrian, so not affected by Weimer. I am not sure which ones, but some of the austrian goodies could be worn I think?
    15. I think I have seen a Saxon Green one. I cant say 100% sure, but I seem to remember bidding on one.
    16. Ugggg... those pics had me scratching my head ... I was going to sugest irish or something off the wall ...
    17. Hi, Nope, I think he was promoted to Lt d. res and got the Lanyard while he was NCO. best Chris
    18. Here you go.... I am assuming it cannot be the Olt. The dog tag is other ranks.... but it IS "1" so maybe the ranking NCO of the company at its formation? With a later promotion to Lt d. Res? http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/58987-some-new-arrivals/
