    1. Hi, from the way its made I assume you can find them with pictures of just about anything? It looks to be a generic holder. Best Chris
    2. Hi, does not need to be SA... I am sure this kind of thing was sold all over with all kinds of ugly faces pictured...

    4. Oooooohhhhh.... a cased WW1 MC.... this is what God created on the 8th day.... and its been downhill since then......
    5. If the Germans, Brits or Americans had had such a fantastically easy to research award as these, they would be the worlds favourite medal! I love these... if I were to go back 20 years and start collecting again.... these would be the medal I would go for... all day , every day...
    6. Some new stuff up... Harry's Africa has a chapter on the fighting at Lukuledi Mission in German East Africa. Some new Machine Gun pics, including a really nice photo of a man with the MG badge and Blacksmith badge. A couple of new things in the for sale section (documents) And a few new photos in other sections... http://www.kaiserscross.com/152301.html
    7. If I understand, the page will be called "Metroplitan Police: ello, ello... was' all this then?"

    9. Wow, Naxos, you da man! Close examination shows schutztruppe like crowns on his buttons so Navy it is!! Thanks Chris
    10. I have traced back the Eichhorn docs as far as possible... there never seems to have been an EK1 doc with it. As the EK2 was 1870 there is a doc, the EK1 must have come from way up high and there seems to have been no lower "dienststelle" who made up a doc for him. Still eager to hear proof to the contrary, but for me it adds to my theory that the really high guys did not get EK docs at the beginning of WW1 because there was no really high office designated to issue them...
    11. Hi, It seems that if they have a PLM it is worn... but often all is laid off other than the PLM and 2 EKs... Early shot of L here, but at the time he had way more than just the two...
    12. Hi, here is a really interesting postcard... it seems the crosses are being given out wrapped in tissue paper?
    13. Hi, Probably Saxon as the photo was taken in Dresden best Chris
    14. And this guy, probably also an old baldy but hiding it under a hat seems to have 56 on his shoulder
    15. Lets see your pics... Old Baldy seems to have been in the 78th IR... Or RIR, or AR
    16. You can question his taste in haircuts,,, you can question his taste in upper lip decorations... but he is proud of his medal!
