That would seem to fit, when I told the seller that I thought it was stuff from an allied soldier not a German because the Germans were never in Cairo he said it was from a German POW who was in camps in North Africa until the early 1920s. Any idea how long the last POWs were kept?

    10. Hi, from the text I would say french.... but did they wear that headgear? On the back are mountains... but the chasseur Alpin wore totally different headgear...

    17. Most of you will have seen this document http://www.kaiserscross.com/183501/183564.html This group may be even a bit better. Lannes (I assume) joined the bat as an Officer... This guy seems to have worked his way up the hard way, getting a commission in the end.... 1912 in the 3rd BILA
