    1. Try a simple google of 47th Infantry Regiment I saw exactly where your man would have died... there is a looooot of info, just online. I found my whole webpage for my purple heart online.
    2. I would drop the deep personal research... who cares about his height and collar size... Just the unit, the day of the wound... its enough to start one.... Then hit the books and see where and when they fought. Best Chris
    3. From telling their stories... maybe more for the current affairs section... but I am interested how it would relate to the "Olden days"... So the 15 sailors/marines have to keep their traps shut.... Let me just say one word... Winston Churchill. Britains finest. Soldier Journalist publishing the events as he lived them... Many, many British histories were done under those circumstances....
    4. Somewhere I read they should have DF and a 03 on them as well? What is the "K" stamp? Thanks Chris
    5. I was offered one for EUR230 and stupidly turned it down.... now I cannot find one anywhere....
    6. A good question... I was offered a Train helmet that looked liked a regular Prussian infantry helmet, other than the train stamp inside... but then I saw a train EM helmet with chiscales and wondered if they were all supposed to have the chinscales...
    7. Hi kev, a select few did have the EK1 in November, but of course, the EK2 was much more common. The big point is though... noone there would have been authorised to approve an award. hanging an EK on the British officer would have been akin to Zidane giving Beckham his jersey after a football game... even if Beck had the jersey... does not mean he is really part of the french team.
    8. Sorry, I menat "I gave a bird or two..."
    9. Is the budding family allowed to play with it :-)
    10. Any info on the unit and the action he was killed in? Normandy must be very well documented. I managed to find this on mine, although the action was a bit obscure. http://www.kaiserscross.com/40312/42469.html Normandy research must be a great treasure trove of info..
    11. One thing must be remembered though...... Many a Gefreiter or thereabouts served from 1914-1918 and fought in all the worst battles..... and simply had an EK2 ribbon. This guy may have had the great need to show what he did... but that does not mean he was NOT a pocket Rambo.
    12. Hi, I have changed the doamin to http://www.kaiserscross.com/ Please go there and check out the "Whats new" page... there is a great addition to the Ghurka trench raid article. Thanks Chris
    13. Hi, I thought so as well, but that is the marinekorps cross on there... the Hindenburg Cross is not yet on the bar.
    14. I don't believe Robins description one bit.... If anyone knows about Victorian Porn and squirrels... you can bet your bottom dollar his name is RickL
    15. Bloody hell... there must be a story behind that !!
    16. Ahhhh Rick.... takes you back to your youth eh!!! Thank god for the internet!!
    17. Hi, maybe a gesture by the German officer, but divisional commander would be the lowest level to be allowed to authorise an award. I have a bird or two a legion kepi back in the old days... does not make them Legionnaires ;-)
    18. Must be a navy man.... I heard nothing that moves is safe after 6 months at sea...
    19. ... and Joffres famous belly is well profiled ;-)
    20. close up of the equipment...
    21. I bought some documents frma french Ebay seller, he was so pleased with the croix de Guerre of the kaiserscross.com that he sent me two original photos for free..... and what photos!!!! Joffre decorating the flag of the 133eme R.I. in 1915...
    22. That late and the LRDG no longer existed? Could the aluminium ones be unofficial? I had a set of copies of my tag made in Tchad... but out of silver... not aluminium ;-)
    23. Hi, does anyone have a pic of these? what stamps should they have on them? Thanks Chris
    24. A silly question.... did Brit tags have the unit stamped on them? Not my field at all, but I have never seen tags with LRDG on them ?
