    1. I promise... scouts honour.... I looked under the microscope... ONE piece... it is..it is... is!
    2. Yup, but the one on the bar... the centre is gold.... but the writing and belt AS WELL. NOT gilt. the writing, belt and L/Crown are ONE PIECE with white enamle added!!! And gold instead of gilt. The whole bar is so tightly sewn up there is no way to see the back :-(((
    3. The loose one has W.Co. 950 stamped on the curly bit above the swords. The swords themselves are 800 Best Chris
    4. Just wait till my computer comes back from the shop and I can scan again... Ill show you mine if you show mw yours ;-)
    5. Ricks one is different again, he has the crown and L as a seperate piece, it looks like the crown and L are gold and the writing and belt vergoldet, wheras the one I have from today has the crown/L, writing and belt as a single piece of what looks liek gold. best chris
    6. What i notice on it is.... On the family medal the centre "L" seems to be gold but the writing and belt are a different metal. there is a gold coulered disk, then they have the enamle (black and white) put on it, then the crown and L is a seperate piece. On todays piece they seem to have a round gold disk with white enamle (the crown and L are PART OF the disk), it is cut through and the black background is seperate. best Chris
    7. Hi, it must be a 1930s backing. Maybe he was in the Feuerwehr, or veterans association?
    8. You are asking the wrong guy, I am only an Imperial EK doc guy :-( I initially thought the middle one was a red cross thingy :-(( OK,no doctor then.
    9. I have seen KVK cases like this, but so far no EK cases... Anyone else seen one?
    10. Looks like an unmarked 65. Interesting late war case, with no button. I found it more interesting than the cross. Also no hinge, just a paper and the lining keep the top on.
    11. I guess the guy must have been a doctor? Can anyone recognise the maker? The bar is so tightly sewn together that I cant see any marks on the cross
    12. Not really my field, but I needed to take something in trade for my stuff and got this.....
    13. I never understood the points system. Found it pretty stupid to have the criteria based on Points AND time served. You have a regular count of points, extra ones coming for extra duties, overseas postings, even things like helicopter flights apparently count in some way. A guy I joined with worked in the comapny office, he said with all our opex we had almost enough for the gold after less than 5 years, but could not get it because of lack of time served. So, you can gather lots of points for active service, but this will not help you advance because the time served is also important. You can also loose the medal if you are a bad boy. Occasionaly you see guys with the outre mer but not with this, usually they hae had it taken away. The bars are not any award, they are more or less just decorative, so you can tell where the guy served. In the legion you automatically get it with the legion bar, if you have been on an overseas operation in the qualifying time the missions bar as well. if you were in the 3rd Infantry regiment you get the infantry bar at the same time. If you are in the 2nd Infantry regiment you dont get the infantry bar. The guys of the 2nd USED to get the bar, but then the regt got APCs and theyare technically no longer an infantry regiment, they are a motorised infantry regiment... for which there is no special bar. I guess there is a guy in an office somewhere who DOES understand it all
    14. I think it was our regimental commander. What is unusual is that in the legion they are very strict with people weariing non officialbits of uniforms or non standard things and this was accepted right off the bat, I never heard anyone even even wonder if it was official or not 8of course, it is not) best Chris
    15. Hi, close. I dont think that the UNO knows about it, but all members of Frebat who were stationed in Sarajevo were awarded their medal with this bar on it. there is also a small one for the ribbon bar. It is made just like an Outre-mer bar. best Chris
    16. Hi, any idea where you can buy them online?
    17. That one on the right is vastly superior. I am trying to find one to put on my bar. Do you think it is an older version or simply a very big variation from a different maker?
    18. about half the TOEs I bought in Morocco haveno sign at all of ever having had a star on the ribbon, the other half are almost all missing the stars, but have signs of having had them
    19. I prefer these finer made pieces to those big silver clunkers... technically these are more of intrest to british collectors as they are more likely found in british groups than WW1 groups... Can anyone give me a "Turkish medals 101" on exactly what they are? The bigger one I bought in Cairo, the smaller one in Scutari. The Turks seem to prefer the WW1 clunkers to these finer ones.
