Hi, Reading up online it seems Nierenberg and Nirenberg are jewish names, but I found a record to a bavarian Nierenberg where he is listed as Protestant... Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Chris

As i had been planning for some time, I visited the village today, 100 years after his death... and took a little something with me to photograph.... he never made it into the village back then... but in a way he did today....

Although the regiment itself seems to have been on the eastern front for the war, many cavalry officers seem to have served in other functions....

You have one of each of them in the Dragonner Regiment 18.... which was Mecklenburg.... as was half the 54 ID..... That I think may be the link....

Hi, We must differentiate between surrendering/being Captured and laying down arms. Boers who made a concious decision to lay down their arms and either to simply stop fighting, or swearing an oath to stop fighting did not qualify. However, those who were captured and then sent to POW camps (Usually out of the country) did qualify. best Chris

Indeed, Suchodolski had a number of cards in this format, his designs were also used for Iron Cross documents, like that of Sturmbataillon Rohr...

Hi, Does anyone have any documents with signatures of any of the Sturmbataillon Commanders... I have a few i will post when I get home, but am curious to see if any other bases are covered.
