    1. Did you buy this in laos by any chance?
    2. Any chance of a close up of the sleeve badges and the badges on the sheet of paper? All the best Chris
    3. It was really funny... I was surfing German Ebay and found this vase.... no idea how it made its way here. Maybe once "the Story" became public they couldnt sell then in England so they shipped them to Germany to sell.
    4. These are still off the coast of Normandy are they not?
    5. I just saw a round one with three elephants and the remains of some writing. The back was Drago woth "Insigne Official"... I think it must have been something for the laotian army.
    6. OK, had a look... it is pretty easy... wil JPG them, they run from A-Z so not difficult to find, will look like this then... Actually, a bit lighter as I will do it in Sunlight and today is kinda cloudy...
    7. A few good ones taken off German POWs ....
    8. Dont worry, I think it will take a few books on the subject to awaken any real interest...
    9. Want me to give him a kicking???????
    10. I have managed to borrow a copy of the Bavarian book (about 600 pages) with all the winners of the silver and gold bravery medals (and other ones as well), it has citations and why they recieved it. I am going to photograph it for myself and make CDs of it. I think EUR5 with postage included would be a fair price? I also want to do the same with the 2 histories of the 2nd bavarian Jaeger battalion, although I assume the medlas book would have a wider appeal... Is there anyone who would be interested? Thanks Chris
    11. Hi, My torpedo bomber guy flew Ju88s, he got he regular bomber clasps. best Chris
    12. I am not so sure.... with a bit of luck you may pick up simple prints for EUR25-35, sure some of the nicer ones are at about 100-150, but its still cheaper than collecting Infantry assault badges. I remember about 10 years ago, I was collecting Iron Crosses and Luftwaffe or something along that line. I started a small side collection of WW1 EK docs, this simply because theay were about EUR10 - 20 a piece... If I could not find a few "Real" things for the collection.... I would grab a pile of these.... it was kind of a "mustard on the side of the plate" thing. Now, it is my main theme and I have passed the 500 mark.... it was a looooong hard path to get them all.... but some clown who buys 3 cased RKs at the Max has a monetarily more valuable collection than Moi. I often think WW1 paper is the ONE single field of German militaria that has not spun out of proportion when it comes to price.
    13. Slow but steady is the secret, these things seem to grow by themselves! With GMIC noone ever has to worry about not being able to read whats on his doc, we will do it for ya :-)
    14. Oooooh... Once David Gregory gets online again.... he will be sobbing at his keyboard when he sees what he missed !!!
    15. Hi, that is an idea.... the locations are all mentionedpretty clearly.
    16. Few if any are REALLY documented. basically they can take any unmarked EK2, stamp basically any crap on the ring... and BAM!! there is a new variation.
    17. I would say they all look like ones I would take into my drawrs...
    18. Oooops. I see the lower 1900 version should have a plain blue ribbon..
    19. But the one in the second link? Is it right or wrong? The colors are right for the 1900-1939 one and on Liverpool medals they hve Persian awards with french style rosettes.... so.... the ribbon in the second post (with the envelope) could technically be corect? Meaning the Frenchi and the Persian are almost same, same except for the width of the colors? A silly question... but has anyone seen rosettes with black backing cloth like these?
    20. Well, that is hard to dispute.... which means the first one is kosher.... but leaves the one in the second post as the odd bird.... it is in an envelope marked Persia, has the riht ribbon for the Persian medal... but has then had a Rosette added.... Maybe simply two very similar ribbons? In the second post the ribbon is correct and according to Eds link... Recipients of the fourth class wear the same badge as the second class, suspended from a medal bar on the left breast, from a narrow ribbon with a rosette in the centre..... Some time ago I started a thread about what the world would do when they ran out of possible color combinations for medal ribbons....
    21. The second link also mentions it having a rosette.
    22. Hi Ed... You are overlooking the 1st version of the order of the crown on your first link. Your first link has two different ribbon coloursm the second link just the 1939 ribbon. Best Chris
