    1. Doesn't get much rarer than this. A bargain in Germany, closed for 335- Euro. Only second one I've seen.
    2. Nice grab Chet! Sorry you missed it Sal. It's always nice to see a great piece find a good home!
    3. I have to agree Paul. I think the EK has been switched. No KDM, but the EK2? Construction style and materials appears consistent with post-1900, not pre-1900 RAO should have smooth arms.
    4. So you are modifying this position?? http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?s=&showtop...st&p=188368 My experience thus far has been that I have seen many, many with serifs that were quite awful. But have yet to see a "non-serif" marked one that was fake. Similar things can be found with respects to Bavarian badges. The majority of the "ray-backs" out there are quite bad.. however another style appears to have been spared the forger's efforts... for the moment
    5. I missed the end of the auction... I would have bid more and I was buying for resale...
    6. Don't tell me none of you have studied the pinned topic at the top of the forum......
    7. Thanks for posting the photos/info. I had my eye on this little puppy as well!
    8. My vote is that the wording, abbreviations and style are consistent with period work I have owned/handled in the past. The style and type of engraving is again, IMO, consistent with an authentic piece. I like it Sal, congratulations! Oh yeah, the fact that it is on an issued cross is just a bonus confirmation for me. Clearly, the recipient was proud of what he did to earn this particular KO cross.....
    9. Met a woman from former USSR named Tamara last week.... asked her if she was familiar with her namesake.... she had no clue what I was talking about.
    10. Please also see this thread regarding the campaign medal: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=1418...t=0#entry190280
    11. Here's a comparison of an early (1963?) issue vs. a later made example:
    12. Nice piece! However there are three (3) cased pin-backs seen in Europe! A Camillo Cienfuegos, a Che First and a third one... I forget. Look back to "A Cuban Dream" thread... pix in there from Germany show three early orders in leatherette cases slightly bigger than the last cased CF that came out.
    13. I'm not so sure Ed.. I think so much information has been presented in some of these sub-forums, that the number of collectors that are willing, are already participating and we have created a rather special little niche for what time will show as an important and serious study of these areas of phaleristics. The old "if you build it, they will come" theory. I think there are probably many interested parties who just have not found us yet. However, there have been some recent changes to the forum regarding search engines, allowances for "crawlers", etc. that will (eventually) improve traffic.... Sure, time will tell... in the interim I think each and every one of you should be proud to be the ones on the cutting edge! Bravo!
    14. Hmm mmmmm mmmmmmm Did you make a "nummy" noise???
    15. If you check Detlev Niemann's book on German Medals & Badges you'll see an example of a crown, moon, 800 mark from a Navy badge. However the maker is not Juncker, as far as anyone knows at this point.
