    1. The sad thing here is PLM's are like diecast cars in the UK... you have only two (2) types.... A) Real (authentic issue pieces) B) Everything else (no matter what the story, era, wish, hope or dream) PS: With diecast, the grades are: A) MINT B) Everything else
    2. OK< good critique so far... but what about: A) 1897 Centennial, but no 1895 Jubilee Spange? B) That bar is actually made out of GALVANIZED sheet steel, very similar to what the ductwork in 99% of the offices in the USA are formed from??? hmmmmmmmmmmmm
    3. The pin shape is consistent with some examples of Imperial Aviation badges by an as of yet unidentified maker. However, the reversed pin and catch is not something I've seen before....
    4. I'm having major difficulties accepting this ebay offering as real. Can you convince me I am wrong? If not, why am I right??
    5. very nice Doc. The solo awards with matching books are interesting to me.... I always wonder about the 'story" behind why he/she only received one lonely award!
    6. Now..... NOT some award that came with the crown.... but an award whereby the crown signified a subsequent award, or a higher degree of the same award... bring 'em on!
    7. Wow.. $800 is an awful lot for one of these late styles...
    8. Hopefully Andreas will weigh in here... the design of the eagles is not consistent with any known original issue pieces. This piece does look very well made when compared to the usual fakes/copies we see. I don't like the heads and the tails of the eagles.... But this is not my area of expertise.
    9. I think the "silver" ones simply had a very poor quality gilding... Note the pebbling and what looks like the remains of gilt there...
    10. It's interesting to see the archival error on the ORS serial number.... note that it has been crossed out and corrected on the original record card!
    11. So what's the deal here... ??? Not one person can step up to the plate and make a definitive statement as to authenticity?
    12. There is absolutely nothing about this badge that would cause me to consider even for a moment that it was made prior to 1975... This looks like a very crude copy to me.
