    1. Well, once upon a time, there was a list of all known MM's for HK's in the Imperial Forum @ WAF. It appears to have been deleted in one of the many "purges" over there.......... How about we start our own?!
    2. Very nice and yes, Godet would not surprise me a bit. The case........ one of my many errors over the years. Never should have let it go.
    3. Look, the argument is moot. The piece is long gone. I've owned 2 in gold, one in bronze gilt. Countless in silver gilt from 4 or 5 makers. This one was gold. Like it or not. Whether it conforms or not to your perception of a gold cross. There you have it. I'm quite sure the same tools were used, but we're arguing about a piece that was sold 4 years ago for well in excess of $2500 to a buyer who didn't take my word for it and had the piece assayed at a jeweler. The jeweler said it was gold. I said it was gold. And our (one of) mutual acquaintence in Germany said it was gold. not quite sure what else can be said about it.
    4. Yes, it was tested. It was weighed. and it was gold. You're absolutely discounted the effect of the resin used to assmble crosses that as you know, leaks out from time to time. This piece was gold.
    5. Not yet! I've asked for a closer examination of the paperwork and documentation of the source. I really want my ducks lined up tight if I pull the trigger!
    6. Hi Mike, believe it or not, yes.... parts of Worcester and a very large part of Bahhhhhhhstahhhhn.
    7. I think Bob is now the proud owner of one of the few early bars still bearing its' rosettes!
    8. hey Mike, I'm in Ware...... head west on 9 and don't blink or you'll miss the whole "town"! (OK, OK, no where?, Ware? jokes!)
    9. Hi Dan, if it feels light as a feather... lierally...... check the weight in grams (bring it to a jeweler)... then see if anyone has a Nimmergut's with prussia (the big $250 per volume) one and compare the weight. I've seen/owned only one brz. gilt and truth be known, the brz. gilt one had gilding so bright I thought it was real gold at first... until I weighed it out. My brz-gilt had no marks either. Only marked ones I've seen (Wagner & Friedlander, 1 Godet) were all maker/content marked. It would be smashing if yours was gold, it would be only the fourth I've seen!
    10. Hi Tony, thanks for your observation... some of the photos/paperwork suggest he served well after the war, when was HRH's Coronation??
    11. Greetings Ed! Not sure what to add here other than WOW! A most impressive collection and even more so with respects to your research that really brings these "alive"!!!
    12. Hi Chris, only reason I even brought it up. My "bells" were going off pretty strongly based on the details/photos given. On a "gut-call" basis, I was in.... but again, literally having minimal experience with this and knowing the minefield I was wandering into...... well, enough said there. I don't know the seller from Adam, I was turned onto this buy another fellow. I guess we will see where it goes. All other comments, thoughts, insights and direction would be most graciously appreciated!
    13. Greetings Rosenberg! Please let us know how this ends up. Also, when you meet with the buyer, ask him about the hundreds of fakes cruising the world.... any advice/direction he might offer would be most welcome as would your additional input! MfG, Rick
    14. ahhh, that's what I get for fast, furious fingers working faster than my brain. No offense intended to our German colleagues! W?rttemberg 'tis. Speaking of Werner, I did extend an invitation to him to join us quite some time back... he is a very busy fellow!
    15. I'd like to add (hopefully not stirring too much controversy in the process) that while I have always understood the significance of the DK in the hierarchy of WW2 German awards..... I have always found these to be butt-ugly, clunky things. I respect the other feelings/opinions and the guys who like/collect these puppies.... but man, these are nasty looking to me!
    16. As an aside Joe, you really had my interest piqued... the "square" mark can also be found on a very few (probably) original Imperial prussian Pilot Badges. It would have been a boon to my research to discover who the heck made that mark! I've seen it on period EKL's and a whopping total of three (3!!) flight badges....
    17. Hi Chris, I very much have enjoyed reading these stories as you've posted them out and about. really gives some human life to the simple document. I can barely imagine the scope, depth and size these book(s??) will have! Cheers!
    18. The "story" is these were purchased through the estate of a family member.
    19. And finally, the Spink & Co. plaque on the back of the mounted group.
