    1. Those bars look legit too, but I don't think they were ever established as anything other than post-WW1 "private purchase"...
    2. The current high bidder is none other than our old friend, maker of erronious ribbon bars & medal bars. AM-Militaria My guess is we'll see these mounted on a new batch of his fake bars coming to eBay soon GOSH, what a surprise
    3. Currently, there's some rather interesting parts being auctioned on eBay Germany. They are parts for Turkish Imtiaz & Liaket Medals, and parts for ribbon bars....
    4. Too bad we can't see exactly what is being pinned on. I suspect it to be a Hero Star...
    5. Well, the "Landesdenkm?nze 1914-1918" document in post four (4) goes with the last medal on your bar... AND .... it's the first time I've seen the actual document for this medal!!!!!!!! Post 3 document is for second place cross, Bavarian Military Merit Cross, 3. Klasse mit Schwertern
    6. Is this mounted in a group or display? Just a loose medal? I can accept nicotine staining, but not to both sides. It would have to sit/hang for many, many years to get coated with nicotine. The detail of the back seems very good, but the front looks very weak. Too many inconsistencies and impossible to be 100% accurate based on the images shown here.
    7. I never checked dimensions. It's being advertised incorrectly. Hopefully others who are bidding have caught this? Now it seems even higher for what it is? Very rare as commander wX as well.
    8. Nope, last time I looked the bidding was close to 5K..... USD. T0o much for me !! But the only example of a GK with swords I have seen in many years.
    9. Hi Steve, no cross-hatching on the outer edges; but not really smooth either. More of a "grainy" appearance under a glass. As a whole, the details and features of this cross are finer/nicer/sharper than any other MVK I have handled. Quite a distinct variation. Any idea how this dates out as opposed to the more common variant? Any idea as to maker?
    10. Hi WC, you have excellent eyes. The cross was in an eBay group a number of years back. The group was posted up for sale, skyrocketed in price, then was pulled and vanished. For those interested, what you have here is an 1870 St. Henry RK in gold that was actually turned back in to the Orders Chancelry and re-issued during WW1! That is exactly what (in theory at least) was supposed to happen. The second St. Henry Ribbon held a medal to the order, but anyone's guess if gold or silver. By far the nicest St. Henry Order to appear on eBay ever.........
    11. OK, now I'm wondering (and blessing my scanner's ability to blow things up a bit)... the lettering on the reverse is not capitalized! I don't recall seeing this variation before. Comments?
    12. I've heard the old saying "When it rains, it pours".... but I never really believed it until this morning's mail!! Now, I'm hoping the old saying that "Things always happen in three's" is true as well!
    13. I shall be only mildly more restrained than my twin. That is one of the rarest and unique groups I have seen in a very long time. Congratulations!
    14. My twin will hate me for posting this photo.... but there's only one way to appreciate this order when you cannot hold it in your sweaty (cotton glove encased) hands. My Roessner Commander's Cross 2.
