    1. Hi Joe, The Saxon Labor Medal comes on a plain green ribbon. It's always possible that it was intentionally mounted like this. We certainly see no shortage of that type of "close enough" work. First thing I would do is gently pry apart the folds (blunt object, no knives!!) (whew!) and see if all 3 are stitched in place and all 3 stitchings (if there) match in thread/style. if not, then you can start thinking it's been played with. if they all match....... maybe/probably not. The Marine Vet Medal is pretty obscure and if memory serves, it actually came on a red/black/white "patriotic" style ribbon so I would have no problem accepting that he might very well have done this intentionally with the exact same reasoning you're having. I'm attaching a sample of the Labor Medal on the issue ribbon. I think an important thing to remember when someone comments on these is that often times, just saying "wrong ribbon/wrong medal" is not necessarily an indictment of the bar itself, just the quick observation that it's mismatched. Despite the rigidity of regulation, we certainly see no shortage of "Wrong and Right" at the same time bars. Especially during the roaring, "Anything Goes" 1920's which this bar would appear to absolutely be!! Here's the Saxon Labor Medal as issued.
    2. ooooooooo with a bar no less! Very, very interesting!! That makes 3. Anybody else have a NC one w. bars mounted?? Nice Joe!!
    3. My Favorite one of these is from a W?rttemberg Dragoons regiment. It has been sitting in the display case at a shop owned by a friend for almost 11 years. Another friend made a deposit and has been slowly "chipping away" at his balance. it wasn't much $$, but he has had some setbacks in his life. It was mint mint minty fresh and my only regret is I did not get there before the other guy!
    4. Think I'm kidding? Think again! So yet again, another case where Imperial Decree was adhered to to counter the hundreds of different silver pieces that were not marked! It doesn't get much smaller than this one!
    5. Whoops! Almost forgot the Second Class Cross in Silver. Guess what? In Brunswick, this cross in silver usually left the jeweler bearing a Crescent Moon, a Crown and an "800" stamped in the back!!
    6. .......... and finally, that last case I posted... the long one? It had one of these inside!
    7. ummmmmmmm his other breast pocket has what sure looks like a TWM on it...... that's his r~i~g~h~t pocket.... ;>)
    8. hey Joe (thanks) (blush)...... Heiko is correct. Neither medals are correct, but both still nice in their own right. If it's a clip-in bar you get to look for the missing ones now!!
    9. Well, Chet wins the cookie with the first guess! Brunswick is correct and every single grade of the House Order of Henry The Lion bears this simple crown and nothing else! From the Merit Medals Right up through the Grand Cross!
    10. War Lord... am I correct in assuming the SS device is simply a "Member's Pin" disc from a lapel pin?
    11. Nope, looks like classic 1935-45 tab-back construction to me. Just in really good condition!!
    12. Yeeessssss........ and I have some prime ocean-front real estate in Utah for you as well!! Such a deal I could make for you! ;>)
    13. Did anybody ever actually see the MOH, or can anyone add photos to the thread?
    14. As a follow-up to this i was surfing around and was pretty surprised at the number of elaborate, probably fake, early, low-number oddball badges out there. I know didly about this... but when I see a dozen "NKVD/SmeRSH/MVD ID Booklets to Jewish Recipients" I really have to chuckle.... it's like, could you clowns try any harder?
    15. Hi Paul, nothing really leaps out at me from these photographs. it is entirely possible to have the NC EK2 and a Combattant HK. What exactly did you spot that concerned you? Thanks!
    16. I really chuckle at this... you could make a real stretch and say the wings of the eagles are approaching reality of a Wagner or a Friedlander piece.... but not with those legs/tail feathers! The opaque-whitish sheen on the enamel is pretty gross as well. Looks like he simply rolled it in flour!!
    17. Hi Paul, yours is pretty faded! There is always a possibility that the first ribbon is being used to signify an Oldenburg Friedrich August Cross, 2. Klasse, on the Non-Combattant ribbon..... but that would be really stretching the envelope of reality for me. Since this is a definate 1920's era bar one can never say "never"....
    18. Hi Eric, I agree with Joe... the entire series of these enameled crosses is amongst the best of the vet pieces. Very interesting with the "Treue dem Regiment bar attached!! Have you ever checked to see if that regiment actually participated at the Champagne battles? Try a new thread in "history"... I'd be curious to know!
    19. OK, those are real puzzlers. Two with Arabic?? Several variations on Artillery, but what country?? Interesting post & welcome to the Forum!!
    20. Hi Chuck, good idea and I will kick it upstairs. I don't recall any other forum with such a dedicated sub-forum!
    21. Hi Eric, I'm not sure and that is entirely possible. I have been wracking my brain since I noticed the labor medal trying to figure out when/where I last saw one!!
