Thanks for the comment and sorry for the late reply. I also brought home something else from the SOS, Flu A. For me the bar says Navy and not just because of the backing. The Hansa Cross and Austrian Military Merit Cross combo just adds to the navy flavor for me. Still, even if it turns out not to be navy it is still a nice bar with matching feldspang.

That medal has a different reverse than the one shown in the link. The verbiage indicates Dem Verdienste. Is the photo then a mismatch for the award or a different model?

The low winning bid shows that almost no one is buying this crap now. Knowledge spreads slowly but the internet is out there for all to use. Not too long ago this would've sold for 3-5 times this.

It was listed as a Buy it Now for $875. He listed it as a miniature. It is a full sized hollow silver gilt Godet. Many of his auctions started off as Buy it Now and if I had had the funds I would've bought every one of them. Ebay can be a gold mine some days if you know what to look for.

Thanks for the replies. I know the suspension has been replaced, probably long before it was glued to the board. It came with 18 other awards all listed as "WW1" period medals. I made a $250 offer in the last 10 hours of the auction (buy it now was $500). You really could not tell what medals were there but I figured 19 medals for $250 that there was no way I could lose. Even with the replaced suspension I think Henry Martin is worthy of remembering.

Must be the bad pics preventing opinions. This thing is almost as black as coal with patina. It was rubber cemented to a piece of plywood with 18 other medals and framed by in the 1950s-60s.
