Here are a couple pictures with possible "sports car" collar insignia. One of these is worn by a motorcycle rider with a "Gouv" (government) license plate. These are all from the TankoGrad series of WWI transportation books. These are extremely informative.

Very interesting topic. I believe the translucent yellow cellulose disk may be a vapor barrier, rather then the actual lifting charge. I have the same thing in one of my rounds and it is stuck to the ring with the vent holes.

I have seen a lot of black and white pictures with the three black bands. I'm wondering what they designate. I would have assumed that there are either a varying number of bands or different colors if there are typically three to designate information about each round. Most pictures appear to be either unpainted or light gray. Field gray certainly makes sense since that was what was used for equipment. I'm surprised there is not more information on these rounds. I have a fair amount of documentation but I am not great at translating from script (before translating to English) so it takes me a lot of time. For the most part the documentation I have does not have any illustrations for these rounds so I don't think I am overlooking too much. I'd like to find the document you mention above. Thanks, Steve

What colors were the light minenwerfer rounds painted as well as the different color bands and letter markings? I have seen restorations in various shades of grey or unpainted but are there any original examples or documentation that support this and specify the meaning? Thanks, Steve

Unfortunately, there is no room for observers. It's strictly members only, but its a real step back in time once you go through the gate.

Very nice! Here are a few pictures from my basement.

Looking for information about the tools that were used in the field during MW operation. I believe the fuse may have been adjusted via a single pin spanner wrench and the bottom plate may have been removed to load the projection charge with a two pin spanner wrench. I have seen pictures of the 2-pin spanner hanging from a lanyard however, I'm not sure how when this was used. I am not sure how the fuse tool was carried. There are a lot of other tools in the toolbox. I think one is to push a round to the bottom of the barrel and another is to hook the fuse and lift the round out, in case of a misfire. Does anybody have documentation or pictures of these (and other) tools? I've seen a lot of toolboxes in museums, but never the tools. Regards, Steve

Can someone tell me what bayonet knot that a division level minenwerfer unit would use? Their number is taken from the division number and they are not associated with a specific regiment. Specifically, I’d like to know the correct knot for the 12th Minenwerfer Kompagnie (12th Division). Thanks, Steve
