    1. No problem, you helped me anyway. Regards. PS: Second badge, anyone?
    2. Yes, Dieter, you are right, I checked my Mukden again and there really is that circle trace on the suspension - although not so clearly defined as on this medal. So now I completely don´t understand why somebody gave 76 dollars + 17 shipping (+ customs, I suppose) for this. I bought mine for 40 in top condition. 40 dollars is also slightly above average, but it was still under 30 euros, which is limit for custom taxes here (if the item costs less than 30 euros, I don´t have to pay 24% taxes). So, for me, this medal would be 76+17+cca 18 = 111 dollars. Omg.
    3. Thanks again, Markgraf. I´ve found very similar info on Hungarian websites which I was able to enter after knowing correct hungarian name of the badge. The only difference is that on one forum (www.roncskutatas.hu) members claimed that bronze (small) and silver (big) version of the badge is quite common. Very rare is only enamelled type (see photo). The name of my relative was Blažej Lükő, hungarian version (as you surely know) Balázs Lükő, born 1921. Thanks in advance for any effort.
    4. Thanks for additional info. Only 223, you said? What was the criteria?
    5. So, it is not mint mark? I haven´t anything like this on my Mukden piece... Thanks for wikipedia info, but I am protected against eBay fever by 24% custom taxes and by the fact that for me japan auctions usually end 2-4 o´clock a.m. So I always put my price evening before the end of auctions - and in the morning I am sometimes very positively surprised.
    6. This one was sold on eBay two times higher than average prize. What was the reason? This mint mark? (I didn´t win, I just want to know it for future).

      Rare Medal?

Hmm, Moscow, Russian Federation, this was very close, hehehe.
    8. I saw japanese awards very similar to those Nick presented on eBay few weeks ago. There was also Rising Sun breast badge, if I remember correctly. And although I am surely not very experienced collector of japanese stuff, I passed it quickly. For me there were suspicious only three things: 1. Chinese man 2. is offering very cheaply 3. too much rare awards in one time. I know every piece of this statement can be theoretically doubt very quickly, but I am happy that my instict didn´t fool me. To speak positively, I rally on quartet matsu-imperialjapan-gunjinantigues-veryberries and I was fooled only once - when matsu sold me 4th type wound badge in the balsa box for 3rd type, which is in fact much more rarer. Nick knows it, because he disclosed it. So cheers to Nick and matsu as well, hehe.
    9. Thanks for any speculation, Dave. If he was wounded (early in the war), do you think he´d resisted the temptation to cap his button hole device with wound badge mini, or with wound badge and hindy swords combo? I mean something like this:
    10. Thanks for help, Matt. Do you think the identification is posssible in this case, Sascha? Nine awards can be enough, but at least one is in doubt and the rest is not so extraordinary. Or am I wrong?
    11. Reverse side. Bot badges belonged to my step-grandfather, who was Slovak citizen of Hungarian nationality (born 1921). During ww2 the part of Slovakia, where he lived, became the part of Horthy Hungary so that he was enlisted to Hungarian army. He died long time ago (1992) and these items were found only now, so I can´t ask him. All I know is that he didn´t served on the front. Any additional info about badges will be appreciated.
    12. But I was unsuccesfull with second one. I don´t even know if the second one is also from the same era and if it is Hungarian too.
    13. These two badges came together, and I suppose the are both Hungarian. But I was successful to identify only the first one - Hungarian Military Sport Achievement badge. Bronze grade, I guess.
    14. I would appreciate your help with identification of ribbons on this Godet&Co. buttonhole mini. Here is my first try. 1. EK2 2. Prussian Red Cross Medal 3. Saxony Kingdom Military Merit Cross 4. Oldenburg Friedrich August Cross 5. Hindenburg Cross for fighter - (or 1870/71 campaign medal, while Hindy ribbon and swords are only on the top) 6. Prussia General Honour Decoration - or Red Eagle Order (?) 7. withered Dienstauzeichnung - or Order of the Crown (?) 8. Prussian Centenary Medal 9. Baden Jubilee Medal 1902 - or something else (?)
    15. Many good repro ribbons don´t glow under the black light. Same with burn test. If repro ribbon is made of 100% cotton, it burns and smells very similarly to old ribbon (mainly when you haven´t old one to compare). Personally I believe only painted ribbons, where the contrast stripe (white on black ribbon) is painted over the all-black ribbon. If you fold old ribbon, and you slightly "torture" it between the fingers, the paint uses to crack and leaves "vein" (see picture). On repro ribbons, the thread on stripes (white on combatant ribbon) is woven to the black base. If you put repro (combatant) ribbon under the microscope, or strong lens, you can raise a simple piece of white thread from the black base with a needle tip. Then you can put it back and ribbon looks like before. If you try to do the same on original painted ribbon, you will scratch the paint on surface and that point will be scratched forever.
    16. You mean Adolf Gitler? Gimmler, Gitler, Gebels, Gering, Godet... you in Moscow must think all important german names begins with G, hehe. Regards mate
    17. Thin type from my collection. Notice mainly the differences in "o" letter in word "Sohn". Thanks in advance for any opinions.
    18. Thanks again. Hope I can continue with my questions about Godet buttons in this thread. My next one is about the last Godet&Sohn design: - Aren´t there in fact two designs, or versions? One with fat and second with thin letters? For illustration, here are two House Orden of Hohenzollern minis, offered in the same time by Kai Winkler.
    19. I thought guys you would love to see this beautiful collection of medals awarded to one man, including Godet marked ordenspange, miniaturkette, and knopflochschleife. It is offered on one russian militaria site with great photos. Recipient is not named, all what is written there is "collection of medals awarded to german diplomat". http://www.frontmeda...alog/t1402.html PS: I think, garfordhouse, your theory about ruskies hating german militaria is definitely in ruins, hehe.
    20. Thank you for the info. Do you think these two were used only as chain buttons? There are four holes on my piece. I thought it was for thread, but maybe I am wrong. Regards
